Taehyung sat at his desk, eyes burning with irritation as he rifled through the piles of documents scattered across his home office. The space, usually neat and orderly, now looked like a storm had torn through it-drawers yanked open, folders strewn across the floor, and the sharp scent of frustration heavy in the air.
"Where is it?!" he growled, yanking open yet another drawer and tossing its contents aside in a fit of desperation. Today's meeting was critical-he was on the verge of securing shares for multiple companies to expand his business ventures not just in Seoul, but internationally. This acquisition was the cornerstone of his ambition to transform his company into a conglomerate, and losing that file meant jeopardizing everything.
As Taehyung continued his frantic search, Jungkook appeared at the entrance, balancing a tray with a steaming cup of his boss's morning black coffee. The scene made him pause. Taehyung's usual composed demeanor was nowhere to be found-his shirt sleeves were rolled up, hair disheveled, and his eyes were wild with desperation. Jungkook had never seen him like this.
"Sir?" Jungkook asked softly, placing the cup on Taehyung's desk.
Taehyung spun around, startled by the unexpected presence, eyes narrowing as he prepared to shout. But when he saw Jungkook standing there, his anger dissipated slightly. Jungkook held his breath, sensing the tense atmosphere. He hesitated before stepping closer. "Sir... is everything alright?" he asked softly, his tone filled with concern.
Taehyung bit back the harsh retort on the tip of his tongue, his gaze shifting to the pile of papers scattered across the floor. After a moment, he exhaled sharply and ran a hand through his hair. "No, it's not," he admitted reluctantly."I can't find a file... an important one. It should've been here. It needs to be here," he muttered, gesturing to the chaotic mess.
Jungkook's heart ached at the sight of his boss's distress. He had always admired Taehyung's strength and control, and seeing him like this-so undone-struck something deep inside him. "Can I help you look for it?" he offered tentatively, trying not to intrude but unable to stand by and do nothing.
Taehyung eyed him warily but, seeing no other option, nodded stiffly. "Fine. It's a black folder labeled 'K-Industries Merger.' Check the shelves again.
Jungkook immediately set to work, scanning through the stacks of papers and peering into every possible corner. Meanwhile, Taehyung watched in silence, his frustration simmering as each passing minute felt like an eternity. He couldn't lose this deal-not when so much was riding on it.
The air grew heavy as Jungkook continued his meticulous search. Taehyung's eyes followed his every movement, his impatience growing with every second that ticked by. The veins on his neck and forehead began to bulge, pulsing visibly beneath his skin as his irritation mounted. His jaw clenched tight, his throat bobbing with each hard swallow.
His chest heaved with shallow, angry breaths, nostrils flaring as he tried to keep his temper in check. But the longer Jungkook searched, the more suffocating the silence became, tension crackling in the air like a live wire.
After what felt like forever, Jungkook straightened, clutching a thin folder. "Sir... I think this is what you're looking for," he murmured cautiously, holding out the file.
Taehyung's eyes zeroed in on it instantly. He sprang up, snatching the folder from his hands. He flipped through the pages with lightning speed, his face a storm of emotions-relief, confusion, and then... pure, unbridled fury.
He turned to Jungkook, his gaze narrowing dangerously. "Where did you find it?" he asked, voice low and strained.
Jungkook bit his lip, hesitating. "In... the trash bin, sir."
For a split second, the room fell deathly silent. Then, Taehyung surged to his feet, the force of his movement making Jungkook flinch back. His expression darkened as the implications crashed over him. The file was kept in his safe-only two people had access to it. Him... and Anna.
"Anna," he hissed, voice laced with venom, his fists clenching tightly at his sides. Without another word, he stormed out of the office, the tension radiating off him in waves. Jungkook followed behind cautiously, worry gnawing at his insides.

They reached the bedroom, where Anna was perched in front of her vanity, carefully applying makeup. She glanced up when the door banged open, and her eyes widened at the sight of Taehyung's expression-face taut, eyes blazing with rage, and every muscle in his body coiled tight.
"Taehyung, what-?"
Before she could finish, he threw the file onto the vanity table. It skidded across the polished surface, knocking over a few cosmetics.
"What is this?" he demanded, voice low and dangerous.
Anna's gaze dropped to the file, and for a split second, panic flashed in her eyes before she quickly masked it with feigned confusion. "I-I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't lie to me," Taehyung growled, grabbing her arm roughly and yanking her to face him. "Jungkook found this in the trash bin. You're the only other person with access to the safe. Why did you do it?"
"I didn't do anything!" she insisted, shaking her head vehemently. Then her eyes narrowed on Jungkook, standing behind Taehyung. "He's lying! That little bit-"
"Watch your mouth," Taehyung snapped, his grip tightening painfully. "You're the one lying here. Don't even try to pin this on him."
"Taehyung, please, I-"
"Don't fuck with me, Anna," he hissed, voice dropping to a deadly whisper. "Tell me the truth."
Anna's eyes brimmed with tears, and she began trembling under the weight of his glare. Finally, with a sob, she broke. "I did it! I hid the file!" she cried, her voice high and desperate.
"Why?" Taehyung demanded, releasing her with a shove.
"Because... because if you expand your business abroad, you'll be gone more often. You're already so busy with work all the time! You never spend time with me anymore!" She choked out, tears streaming down her face. "You're always at the company, always working, and I-I can't take it. I thought... I thought if I hid the file, you'd stay here, just for a while longer."
Taehyung's anger wavered slightly as he stared at her, the raw vulnerability in her voice making his chest heavy with guilt. He exhaled slowly, his grip on his temper loosening. With a sigh, he reached up and rubbed a hand over his face.
"Anna... you can't interfere in my business," he said quietly, his voice still firm but no longer laced with fury. "What you did was reckless. This deal is crucial. Do you have any idea what would've happened if I hadn't found this in time?"
She shook her head, sobbing softly. "I'm sorry, Taehyung. I just... I miss you."
His expression softened slightly, but his voice remained resolute. "Don't ever do something like this again. Do you understand?"
Anna nodded tearfully, sniffling as she looked up at him, pleading. "I won't, I promise."
Taehyung's gaze lingered on her for a moment longer before he turned on his heel and left the room, his frustration not fully dissipated. Jungkook quickly stepped aside as Taehyung stormed past, watching as he disappeared down the hallway.
With a last glance at Anna, who had collapsed onto the floor in tears, Jungkook quietly left the room, trailing after Taehyung.
