Sophie was leaving Foxfire when suddenly, she heard Fitz's voice in her head. "Hey Sophie, meet me at Everglen.", Fitz told her. Sophie was a bit confused, but figured visiting her friend couldn't hurt, right?

Sophie stopped by Havenfield to let her parents know where she was going, and then went up to the leap master and leaped to Everglen. When she arrived, she found Fitz waiting for her at the gate surrounding his enormous mansion of a home that elves considered 'normal'. He let her in and told her to follow him.

After a little while, Fitz led Sophie into a beautiful clearing. It was a small field surrounded by a forest, with a quiet and peaceful river flowing calmly by. But why did Fitz want her to come to Everglen just to show her this?

"Sophie, I am in love with you and would like to ask you to be my girlfriend.", Fitz said excitedly."Oh.....Fitz, I'm honored but...we broke up a few years ago because I'm unmatchable, remember?", Sophie told Fitz kindly. "Yes, but I've changed my mind, I no longer care about your match status, I only care about you.", Fitz replied.

"Well, I wish you would have felt that way from the beginning, because I've moved on.", Sophie said irritedly. "What do you mean 'You've moved on'?", Fitz asked a little angrily. "I mean, you may like me, but I don't like you!", Sophie exclaimed. "Fitz, you can't just change your mind years later and expect me to be like, 'Oh Fitz, don't worry, I could never move on from you, even years after we broke up because you couldn't handle being a bad match!'", Sophie said, now sounding angry too.

"Well do you have another crush?", Fitz questioned. "That's none of your business!", Sophie shouted. "So you do?", Fitz guessed, studying her closely. "Fine! No, I don't have a crush.", Sophie gave in. "Well then, I can be your crush, just like old times!", Fitz responded. "I don't want to go back to old times Fitz, I want to stay in present times.", Sophie told him.

"Fine, but at least come with me for a picnic, it's all set up, right over there.", Fitz pleaded, pointing to a spot close to the river. "NO!!! I'm going home, and don't you dare drop into my mind again!", Sophie shouted very annoyed and angry now. "Sophie, wait!", Fitz shouted after her, but it was too late. Sophie had already disappeared into the beam of light, returning to her home, Havenfield.

"Hey sweetie, what did Fitz want?", Edaline, Sophie's adoptive mother asked her. "He wanted to get back together!", Sophie said frustrated. "What? Even after all these years, and how badly he reacted to you being unmatchable?", Edaline asked her daughter. "Yes, he took me out to this clearing where he had a picnic set up, and asked me to be his girlfriend. I told him I had moved on and he started saying how he didn't care about me being unmatchable anymore, that he only cared about me.", Sophie started to tell her mother, who turned out be a very good listener. "And then, I was like, Fitz it's too late, and he got all mad, and when I told him I was leaving he asked if I would stay with him for the picnic!", Sophie exclaimed angrily.

"Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry!", Edaline said sympathetically. "Sorry about what? The fact that Fitz is such a baby?", Sophie asked sarcastically. Edaline tried to muffle her laughter, but was having a difficult time. "Oh no, please, laugh at him all you want. He deserves it!", Sophie told her mom. "Sorry, I just couldn't contain myself.", Edaline confessed. "It's alright, I honestly don't care. Thanks for listening mom, telling you made me feel better.", Sophie said gratefully. She was lucky to have such a kind and caring mom like Edaline, she wouldn't trade her for the world. "Anytime honey. Now get some rest, you have school tomorrow.", Edaline responded, making Sophie jump.

Sophie groaned, "Great! I have to go to school where I'll probably have to see Fitz again", she thought to herself. As she headed upstairs and into bed, she thought about just how awful her day would probably be.
