Vivaan Sharma : middle class family,
Age 18

Aarav Goenka: rich family
Age 17

A scene appears where a boy is being beaten up by several boys, and they are saying, “How dare you come here? People like you should just die. After touching you, we’ll have to cleanse ourselves again.”

The boy was listening to all these words, and tears were flowing from his eyes, but he didn’t say anything. All the boys left, but the boy didn’t have the strength to get up. After some time, a girl arrives and says, “Vivaan, are you okay? What happened to you?” She was very worried as she spoke.

Vivaan smiles but then faints right there.

Suddenly, someone wakes up from their sleep, breathing heavily. He was very scared and was trying to calm himself down. Just then, a girl walks into his room and says, “Vivaan, what are you doing? Today is your...” but before she could finish her sentence, she noticed Vivaan’s condition. He looked very disturbed. She quickly goes to him and says, “What happened? Did you have that dream again?” Her voice was full of concern.

Vivaan didn’t want his sister to worry. Yes, the girl was his sister, so he says, “Aradhya, what could happen to me? You’re worrying too much.”

Aradhya knew her brother didn’t want to cause her stress, so he wasn’t saying anything. So, she too quiets down and tries to lighten the mood, saying, “It’s your first day back at school after so long. How do you feel about going back after so many years?”

Hearing this, Vivaan becomes sad because he hadn’t gone to school for a year. The reason why he didn’t will be revealed later.

Aradhya understood that she had made a mistake again, so she tried to explain to Vivaan, saying, "Vivaan, no one will do anything to you here. We have already talked to the principal."

Vivaan replied, "we ? Aradhya, I know your parents don't like me. They wanted to kick me out of the house, but they kept me here only because of you."

"It's not like that, Vivaan. They love me a lot, but it'll take them some time to understand that you're a little different," Aradhya said.

Vivaan didn't want to say anything more, so he responded, "Aradhya, I need to get ready for school, so you should go now."

Aradhya knew that Vivaan was in a bad mood, so she didn't say anything to him and quietly left.

On the other side, Vivaan was getting ready, thinking, "For most people, school is the best time of their lives, but for me, it will be the worst time." He said this while looking at his hand, which had a large scar from a deep cut.

Lost in thought, Vivaan came downstairs and quietly sat on a chair. Aradhya was sitting next to him. Just then, his mother brought breakfast and said, "Vivaan, beta."

Hearing his mother call him "beta" after so many days made Vivaan very emotional, and he replied, "Yes, maa"

"Vivaan, do you know? My friend's daughter also studies at your school, so you should befriend her. She's in your class," Vivaan's mother said.

Vivaan was listening to his mother, but as soon as he heard this, he understood what she wanted. He stood up and said, "Mom, I know what you're trying to do, but I'm sorry. That can never happen."

"Why not, Vivaan? Just meet her once. She's very beautiful and really nice," his mother insisted.

"Enough, Mom! That's enough! Do you not know, or are you just pretending not to?!" Vivaan shouted. "I know, and that's why I’m so worried about you! What will people say? What will they do?" his mother replied.

"People, people! It’s always about them. Why can't you care about your own son instead of them? Can't you understand a simple thing? I'm gay! I like boys! Yet every time, you keep showing me pictures of girls I have no interest in. Can't you understand that?"

At that moment, his mother slapped him and said, "How much more will you embarrass me and your father? If you don't care about yourself, at least care about us! Even if we forget society, can you give us a legacy with another man? Tell me!"

"Legacy? Legacy is all you care about! You're treating your own son worse than an animal, and yet you talk about legacy?" Vivaan said before grabbing his bag and storming out.

Tears filled Vivaan's eyes as he quietly walked away. On the other hand, his mother sat down on a chair and began to cry, saying, "Have I done such terrible things that God is punishing me by treating my son like this?"

"Mom, it's okay. It's not your fault; there's nothing wrong here. If you understand, it's just how nature is," Aradhya, who was standing nearby, said.

"Stay quiet! What do you know about people's opinions? We have to listen to them!" Vivaan's mother snapped.

Aradhya was very angry at her mother because this was her usual habit—she would quietly  walk away.

On the other side, Vivaan arrived at his school. He was feeling very nervous and quietly walked into his class. The teacher was coming in and noticed Vivaan, saying, "You're the new student, right?"

Vivaan noticed that the teacher was calling him over and asking him to introduce himself.

Vivaan said, "My name is Vivaan Sharma." The teacher, Mr. Shankar, replied, "That's a nice name!" He then asked the class, "Who will help Vivaan with his studies?"

Everyone in the class raised their hands, but only four students stood out. Vivaan's gaze fell on those four, and he noticed that they were all looking at him as well. Just then, the teacher said, "Aarav, you can stand up."

The teacher said, "You will explain everything to Vivaan and sit with him, understood?"

Hearing this,, Aarav, and Vivaan started looking at each other.
