Beomgyu's eyes widened in shock, his mouth hanging open as Yunhwa's jaw dropped. "What? But Mr. Yeonjun, I..." she began to protest, but Yeonjun's raised hand silenced her.
"Your behavior is unprofessional and disrespectful. Your services are no longer needed here," he said firmly, his voice leaving no room for debate. He turned to Beomgyu, offering a curt nod. "Follow me, we have work to do."
Beomgyu collected his thoughts, swiping at the sweat on his forehead. He had not expected to be thrown into the lion's den on his first day, but he had faced worse in life. He followed Yeonjun into the office, the scent of leather and the faint hint of cologne filling his nose. The walls were lined with diplomas and awards, a silent testament to Yeonjun's success. Despite the opulence, there was a coldness to the room that mirrored the man in front of him.
"So, what do you think you can bring to this company that the others couldn't?" Yeonjun asked, his voice devoid of emotion as he settled into his chair. Beomgyu took a deep breath, straightening his tie.
"Well, for starters, I'm not going to throw myself at you every five minutes," Beomgyu said with a smirk, his eyes twinkling with mischief. Yeonjun's eyebrows shot up, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly. The audacity of the boy was surprising, but he found it refreshing. Most people cowered in his presence, but not Beomgyu.
"Cocky, aren't we?" Yeonjun said, his voice holding a hint of amusement. Beomgyu shrugged, his cheeks coloring slightly. "I'm not here to flirt, I'm here to work. And from what I've seen, that's something this place could use more of."
Yeonjun's expression grew more serious. "Your honesty is appreciated, but don't let it get you into trouble," he warned. "Now, let's get down to business. You'll be handling my schedule, correspondence, and any other tasks I deem necessary. Do you have any questions?"
"okay, i guess? What's so difficult about it? It's not like i'm going to mess it up," Beomgyu replied, his voice filled with a confidence.
Yeonjun leaned back in his chair, studying Beomgyu with a critical eye. "You're aware that my schedule is demanding, aren't you? And that I expect perfection?"
"You look like you need perfection not in your schedule, in your life," Beomgyu quipped, his voice light and teasing. Yeonjun's eyes narrowed, but he couldn't deny the kernel of truth in the statement. Beomgyu had a knack for cutting through the bullshit, and it was something Yeonjun found surprisingly refreshing.
"Excuse me? Did you just say what I think you said?" Yeonjun's eyes glinted dangerously, his voice dropping an octave.
"Deaf and dumb, oh my god. Where do i start?"
Beomgyu's words hung in the air, his cockiness unabated by the stern look on Yeonjun's face. The older man leaned against the desk, his hands in his pockets, a smug smile playing on his lips. "Look, I know you're the big shot around here, but I've seen enough in my life to know that you can't scare me with that look. I've had worse," he said, his voice carrying the weight of his past.
