﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋

MY IVORY SKIRT FLOWED with each step I took through the cathedral, greeting everyone that walked by.

I stood behind my parents and Lorenzo, trying to keep up with them.

My parents are really apart of the church's programs, especially my mother.

Which explains why every Sunday the house would be a mess in the early morning.

Since it went by pretty quickly, they had breakfasts at the church.

And usually, the teenagers and little kids would be outside, just to keep the place calm.

After a little while of sitting with my family, boredom filling my mind completely as I ran my nails over the floral table cloth, I spoke up to my dad, who was readjusting his suit.

"Dad, can I step outside for a minute?.. I need some fresh air."

"Per cosa?" His eyes narrowed slightly, taking notice of the gulp I took.

I cleared my throat, fixing my posture, forcing a small smile on my lips so I'd be at least a bit more convincing.

"I-I just— I need fresh air, like I said.. it's getting a bit loud in here, and you know I get stressed when stuff gets too loud, papà."

He tilted his head slightly, signaling to the large doors behind me, crossing his arms over his chest. "Go. But don't stay too long, va bene?"

"Sì. Grazie, papà.." I muttered, grabbing my phone off the table, standing up and walking towards the large door.

The cool autumn wind hit my skin the second I stepped outside, making me shiver slightly. I leaned against the wall, looking around to see if anyone would be able to see me, before grabbing my lighter and cigarettes from my small purse.

I desperately grabbed the cigarette out of the packet, shoving the box into my purse before putting the cigarette between my lips, covering the end with my hand, lighting it.

I inhaled deeply, letting the smoke rest in my lungs for a moment, before exhaling, a sense of relief washing through me.

"I didn't know you smoked.." A deep, raspy voice spoke abruptly, interrupting the silence.

I snapped my head towards the direction the voice came from, seeing Hector standing a few feet away from me, a smug grin on his face.

"Well, you learn something new everyday.." I muttered, my eyes slightly narrowed, looking away from him.

I had never really liked Hector. We were always in the same 'friend group', but never talked. I've always tried steering clear of him, since I knew he was no good.

Always getting in trouble, always getting into fights, always bullying kids, the list goes on and on..

He widened his eyes slightly in amusement, a scoff leaving his lips.

"You haven't changed much, have you..? Always so mean.. qué pena que seas guapa..."

I clenched my jaw slightly, inhaling the smoke once more. "Hypocrite.."

Hector made it obvious he was physically attracted to me, even when I pushed him away each time. He was persistent, which was something I absolutely hated about him.
