"Good afternoon, Miss Cabrera."

The Secret Service agent watching the door to the café says to me. I greet him back with a smile as I walk in and the entire café is empty. It's one of those upscale cafés in San Francisco that have that bougie aesthetic, but this place is actually really good. It's been a week since meeting Kamala and just this morning, Opal asked me for a café recommendation. I told her about Moonlight Co. without much thought to it. If I knew that I would be having a one-on-one with Kamala, I would've at least tried to look a little decent.

It's not like I look like the rat from Ratatouille, but I could look a little dressed up. At least my hair is decent and my makeup is done, but I am wearing a cropped tank top and low waist jeans with the low cut Panda Nike Dunks. Not really professional for the Vice President, now is it? It's not like I'm trying to hide the patchwork tattoos on my arms or my belly button piercing, but this is Kamala Harris, who I will be working for in two weeks. I doubt that she's going to think less of me, but I just wish that Opal told me that being at Moonlight Co. wasn't to meet her and it was really me and Kamala.

I shit you not, it's just Kamala. Other than the employees here at the café and the agents posted at the exits, it's just us. It also doesn't help that Kamala chose a private room in the loft area that had the perfect mood lighting and she's wearing a slightly dressed down version of her outfits. It's just a white t-shirt with a tan blazer, and jeans, but even this outfit is making my mind run with thoughts that Horny Lesbian Celine is cooking up in my cranium.

"You picked a nice spot, Celine."

She hugs me and I do the same, hoping she doesn't feel my heart racing against her chest.

"Thank you. It's a nice cozy get away when I want to get away from my fast paced life." I say with a smile. "Will it just be the two of us?"

"Yes, I hope that's okay with you. I just want to get to you more considering we'll be working together soon."

Cut the cameras. She cleared out one of the most busiest cafés in in San Francisco just so she can get to know me. I don't know whether to feel touched that she put that much effort or scared shitless because there really is no way out of this if I get way too flustered. My heart continues to race as I see her mouth open, but a waitress comes in.

"Good afternoon-- I'm Hadley and I'm be serving you two today." she says. I come here often that they know my usual drink and food order.

"Hi Hadley, I'll just have whatever Celine's having." Kamala says smiling before Hadley places the menus in front of us.

"Alright, that'll be our honey passionfruit iced tea and our eggs benedict croissant sandwich."

"Sounds perfect. I trust Celine's tastes."

"I'll be back with the drinks."

"Thank you." Kamala and I say at the same time.

Hadley leaves and when I look at Kamala, her eyes are already on me. I don't know what it is about her eyes that make me feel so nervous. It could be a habit from when she was a lawyer, but it's as if she's looking into eyes seeking answers with unspoken questions.

"So, tell me about yourself." she says while clasping her hands together before propping her chin on top of her fists with a smile.

"What do you want to know?" I ask as I straighten up my posture.

"Everything." she chuckles and I look away while nodding, knowing I have a nervous smile on my face. "And you don't have to be formal or profession, okay? Right now, I'm not your boss or the Vice President. Just Kamala."
