Bruce nodded at the guards, a silent command. They moved swiftly, lifting the maid and carrying her away, her cries of pain fading into the distance...
He strode towards Lucas, his heavy boots thudding against the marble floor. Placing a firm hand on his shoulder, Bruce felt the tension in his muscles. "Lucas," Bruce said, his voice stern and unyielding. He flinched at his touch, Lucas's gaze snapping to Bruce's, the spell of his fixation broken.
"Come with me," Bruce commanded, steering him away from the mess he had caused. They walked through the corridors. Bruce led him to his office. Once inside, Bruce closed the door behind them and turned to face him.
"You seemed quite...out of it back there." He walked towards his desk, leaning against it with his arms crossed over his chest. "Care to explain?"
Lucas, kept his gaze downcasted. The guilt eating at him.
Bruce sighed inwardly as he thought.
This is getting us no where...
He opened his desk drawer and drew out a knife, his hand clenched around it, the blade biting into his palm. The jagged edge promised pain, but he welcomed it. He needed to break through Lucas's innocent facade, to awaken the primal instincts buried beneath his veneer of civility.
Without hesitation, Bruce slashed the glass across his skin. The sting was sharp, but he didn't flinch. Blood welled up, crimson against his pale flesh. Lucas's gaze snapped to his hand, pupils thinning. He smelled it-the metallic tang of Bruce's life force.
Lucas's nostrils flared, and Bruce saw the hunger ignite in his eyes. The veneer cracked, revealing the beast within. He'd done it-Bruce had awakened Lucas's primal urges.
Before he could react, Lucas lunged at him, his eyes blazing with hunger. The force of his attack sent Bruce crashing into the desk. The papers scattered, a flurry of sheets caught in the sudden gust. Bruce's head thudded against the wall with a soft thump. Lucas's hand was like a vise around his throat, and Bruce felt his heart begin to race in his chest. But he met Lucas's gaze unflinchingly as his fangs sank into his neck. Pain exploded, but Bruce gritted his teeth, refusing to cry out. This was what Bruce wanted.
Finally, it's done.
Lucas's mouth worked hungrily, drawing his blood. Bruce felt the rush-the connection-as if their souls touched briefly. But it was a farce. Lucas was a predator, and Bruce was merely prey.
But one thing was for certain.
Bruce wasn't going down without a fight.
"You will control yourself, Lucas!" Bruce managed to force out, his voice hoarse. "I refuse to be your next meal because I am not just any human! I'm Bruce Caldwell, and I won't be threatened by a creature of the night."
With a surge of adrenaline, Bruce summoned all his strength and pushed against him. His muscles strained, every fiber of his being focused on breaking free from Lucas's grip. But Lucas was relentless. His hands tightened, and Bruce could feel the pressure building, threatening to crush him.
He shifted his weight, using his bulk to his advantage. With a swift, calculated move, Bruce twisted his body and managed to break free from his hold. Bruce stumbled back, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
He reached up and held the side of his neck where Lucas had bit him, the blood was oozing out from the two puncture holes on the side of Bruce's neck, staining his crisp, white shirt.
He gave a weak chuckle. "You're being a bad bat, Lucas."
His words fell on deaf ears and Lucas was on him again in an instant, his speed and agility unmatched. He tackled Bruce to the ground, and they rolled across the floor in a tangle of limbs. Lucas's strength was overwhelming, but Bruce refused to give in. Bruce landed a solid punch to his jaw, momentarily stunning him.
Taking advantage of the brief respite, Bruce scrambled to his feet.
"Acting out, huh?" Bruce's voice was a low growl, the sound echoing off the walls. "You think you can challenge me?"
"I am YOUR master! And you will obey me!" Bruce shouted, his voice cold and harsh.
Lucas rose to his feet, his eyes locked onto Bruce's. His chest heaved with each breath, he looked almost ethereal, panting and out of breath like that. But there was no time to admire his beauty. He was a threat, and Bruce needed to neutralize him.
"Stop this madness!" Bruce shouted, his voice echoing through the room. But Lucas was beyond reason. He lunged at him again, and Bruce braced himself for the impact.
As he closed the distance between them, Bruce knew he had to act quickly. He reached for a nearby artifact, a heavy bronze statue, and swung it with all his might. The statue connected with Lucas's head, and he let out a pained whimper. He staggered, before falling to the ground unconscious.
