"okay, i'll lower my veil now. try not to die!" gojo grinned like a madman before walking away from us, the day turning into night as the veil consumed the sky over us.
me, maki, inumaki, and panda were all sent on a mission by gojo to exorcise a semi-first grade cursed spirit that was born on this soccer field.
"hey, why didn't gojo send yuta? isn't he the only student that's a special grade?" i complained, suddenly remembering the absence of our jumpy classmate.
"gojo likes to 'push us'," maki spat, rolling her eyes at our irresponsible teacher. we all already knew he liked to push his missions on to his students, but it was new that he was trying his hardest to make this more difficult for us.
with that, we all skimmed over the soccer field to find the curse. me and panda went off together to search one side, inumaki and maki covering the other.
i could feel the spirits presence, the aura deeply unsettling me, keeping me on high alert. i've never been in the presence of a curse this strong. i couldn't even imagine what a special grade must be like.
"hey, where's the curse? there's no where to hide here, anyways," i asked panda who stood beside me, eating hello pandas.
"they can phase through solid walls and floors. it's probably gonna just be a waiting game until it wants to show up," he shrugged, a chunk of the chocolate and cracker mush from his mouth flying on to my face.
i disgustedly shut my eyes before using my uniform's sleeve to wipe it from my face, as panda fearfully watched like i was gonna kill him. he wasn't wrong, i definitely will when the missions done.
"is it even ethical for you to eat those? isn't that considered cannibalism or something?" i raised an eyebrow at him before picking a cracker panda out of the large pack he held to pop in my mouth.
"HEY IDIOTS, WATCH OUT!" maki shouted from across the field.
when i turned to face in her direction, i was greeted by the curse we'd been looking for. the sheer amount of cursed energy it possessed froze me; i blanked.
it had a dog-like body a little bigger than panda and limbs that moved like slime, talons the size of my head at the end of each one. on its sides were four giant, bright yellow wings and a bulbous blue head with hundreds of eyes all around it.
it charged toward me and panda with its mouth wide open, prepared for us to be its next meal. just as it was about to reach us, we dove out of the way in opposite directions. i tumbled against the slippery mud of the soccer field, my uniform and hair getting filthed.
"DON'T MOVE," inumaki boomed at the spirit as him and maki ran towards it. that gave me and panda time to get up and prepare ourselves for its next attack.
maki ran towards panda who used his paws to boost her up over the cursed spirit. she landed on the frozen curse's back, lifting the blade of her polearm to slice it open its neck.
but before she had the chance to strike, the curse broke free from inumaki's cursed speech.
it flapped its wings while imbuing them with cursed energy, the gust of cursed wind knocking maki off its back, pummeling the rest of us to the ground.
her circular glasses fell off her face as she tumbled though the air, landing on the ground where she would soon fall on top of them, shattering them.
ouch. that's gotta hurt.
everyone quickly got up, preparing for the next attack. except panda.
