TW: injuries, mention of alcohol/drvgging in a way?

-----

12:06am

Julia grunted, squinting at the bright light being emitted from her phone for what felt like the hundredth time. Her mind was buzzing and bouncing around helplessly with different thoughts and loops, and she couldn't get it to just shut up. Her nose was still busted from her fight with Damien earlier (that she still couldn't believe she lost—at least Bowie was gone now), and the painkillers she took prior had begun to wear off. The uncomfortable and rock-like mattresses in the cabins didn't help at all, nor did the paper-thin blankets or the flat-as-a-pancake pillows Chris provided.

It didn't help that MK was still gone, presumably being kept in the medical tent for the night, so Julia had no one to talk to. There was no way she was gonna try and strike up a conversation with Axel or Priya out of desperation. She groaned restlessly, trying to ignore the fact that MK immediately came to mind when she thought of ways to pass the time.

It still felt uncomfortable to see her gone.

After a couple more minutes of sitting up, laying down, changing position, going back to the previous position, and sitting up again, Julia finally had enough. She stood up, quietly slipping on her shoes and hoping she didn't disturb anyone else in the cabin. Her legs swiftly carried her out the cabin door and into the chilly, fresh air of midnight. A deep breath replaced the uncomfortable, stuffy air invading her lungs, and at once she immediately felt a little better. Still, her legs ached with energy, and so, step after step she made her way around the campsite, her mind wandering off to get lost in whatever it pleased.

Greens of grass, browns of trees, and deep blues of the sky blurred together with each calming step she took, only being suddenly interrupted by a glimpse of a desaturated red resting beneath a pine tree. She paused to take a better look, ultimately recognizing it as a jacket.

Not just any red jacket, MK's red jacket.

She simply stood there for a couple moments, debating on whether or not she should acknowledge her friend alliance partner and check up on her.

It's not like Julia actually cared or something. She just needed to make sure MK would be able to play her best in the next challenge. They had a couple days to rest, but that bear really went for MK.

Julia eventually found herself walking towards the tree, MK's small frame coming into view. She was sat up against the tree, some of her injuries looking a little better, and her eyes aimed up to the star-filled sky. She didn't seem to notice Julia approaching until the blonde took a seat next to her in the cool grass.

"Hey." The brunette muttered quietly, her voice sluggish and scratchy. Her stare shifted to the blonde next to her for a moment before back at the sky, letting her gaze get entrapped by the bright lights against the dark background.

"What are you doing out here?" Julia inquired as she took a better look at MK's face. It still looked swollen with nasty-looking bruises as they decorated her face, but any cuts or scars had been covered with bandages. One eye, which she kept closed, was covered in a deep purple spot, although it was partially covered with her disheveled hair.

MK didn't respond for a moment, her good eye still trained to the stars above. Julia subconsciously noted how it gleamed in the moonlight, drawing away anyone's attention from the ugly injuries populating the rest of her face.

Julia tried not to stare too much, but it was hard to look at anything else—it's not like she was trying to dissect MK's features, she just had nothing better to stare at.
