Stacy walked up to a small house at the end of the road. She looked up and saw that it was fairly large with dark, faded blue paint. And behind the house was a decent sized lake, with several little frogs hopping around it.
Stacy finally walked up to the door and gave a firm knock. After several seconds of waiting, she heard footsteps walk to the door before it finally opened. Before her now stood a man wearing a tie and a dark blue suit.
"Ah, you're here! Just in time too, me and the Mrs. were just about to leave." Said Mr Stanley as he finished straightening his tie.
Stacy peeked behind him into the house. "Well, glad I could make it, where are the kids at?"
Mr Stanley's face turned to one of thought, as if he himself didn't know where the children were. "What time is it?"
Stacy looked down at her watch, "A few minutes till 5"
"Oh, then in that case," said Mr Stanley. "They should be here in just a few minutes."
Stacy looked up confused as Mrs Stanley walked down the stairs with her purse. "OK, good, the babysitter here," she said. "We can go ahead and leave so we won't be late."
Stacy looked over, "But you said you'd pay me fifty dollars!"
Sorry Stacy, but we don't have time, I'll give it to you first thing when we get home, I promise." Said Mr Stanly as he and.his wife hurried past her and towards their car.
Stacy opened her mouth to argue, but before she could get anything out, both of them were already in the car and pulling out of the driveway. She watched the car drive off before stepping into the house, briefly looking around to find the kids, only to see no one in sight.
After a few minutes of searching, she figured the children must be up in their rooms and went instead to see what the family had in the fridge. When she opened it she saw what seemed to be a cup with mealworms in it, and she immediately closed the door again. As soon as she did, she jumped quickly as once the door was closed, she saw two children standing in front of her, neither saying a word and just staring at her.
"Oh, sorry, you kids startled me," she said as she caught her breath. The kids continued to stare at her as Stacy looked down and noticed their pants and shoes covered in mud, with wet footprints leading from the back door to where they were standing. "Oh crap now I'm gonna have to clean that up. Can you two help me?"
The two children just continued to stare as Britney tilted her head as if inspecting her. "I like her. She looks like she will be fun."
Stacy stared at them. "Oh, your parents better be paying extra." She slowly shut the door and started cleaning up as the two children slowly walked off and up the stairs.
An hour or two later, Stacy sat watching an old black and white movie on Stanley's TV. She had made herself a bowl of popcorn and had almost forgotten the children were in the house, as neither of them had made a single sound since she first saw them. Well, that was until about an the most ear piercing shriek Stacy had ever heard rang out from the upstairs, causing her to drop the bowl all over the floor
"Shit." She said as she quickly made her way up the stairs.
She looked down the hallway. Mud and water formed a trail to the children's door. But that trail wasn't what worried Stacy. She was more concerned with the other thing that led to the room. That being the trail of torn clothes that she had seen the children wearing just a few hours ago.
She slowly moved down the hall and quietly approached the room. And just as she moved her hand toward the door, she got thrown back hard against the wall. The door had flung open, and the force had sent her back hard. She heard a loud and monstrous growl, causing her to look up and see two massive amphibious creatures looking down at her. One got right up in her face and opened its mouth, showing massive fangs as itt let out another loud roar.
But in the next second, the creature was coiling back in pain, as it turns out, it was hanging over her in just the wrong angel to get a swift kick somewhere I'm sure it would rather not have. Stacy got up and ran back toward the stairs as the other monster gave chase. Stacy made it all the way to the bottom before it grabbed her. Thankfully, she got past that problem with a quick fist below the chin. She ran out to the shed looking herself in and hiding. Well, at least that's what the creatures thought.
Both monsters approached the shed and slowly reached for the door, only for one to be knocked over by the door being flung open, and the other being bashed over the head with a shovel.
Stacy made a run for the house as the two creatures tried to get up. One had a much harder time doing so than the other as it swore it could now see three Stacy's running away. Stacy quickly made it into the house and turned to lock the monsters out, but when she looked back, she saw both of them gone.
She held up the shovel like a bat and slowly got on top of the kitchen island, waiting for one of those amphibious things to attack her again. She heard footsteps quickly running down the stairs and got ready. Only instead of two horrible and slimy frogs, down the stairs came the two children, their faces dirty and their clothes torn.
"Oh God, you two are alright!" Exclaimed Stacy as the two children stared at her. Stacy looked at the looks they were giving her and quickly raised her shovel up defensively.
The two children blinked in sync, and when their eyes opened, they were all completely black. The two children opened their mouths to show multiple rows of razor-sharp teeth as they rushed towards Stacy.
Stacy looked down at the two kids swiping at her and trying to get her, and simply giggled. Stacy straightened her hair from the two creatures’ attempts to grab her. Her eyes bounced between Henry and Britney, while a smile crossed her mouth. She had enough mock arguments to know how to get the upper hand.
“Children, you still have much to learn,” she said while hooking her fingers on the edges of her mouth. A quick swipe exposed sharp teeth and a wide mouth while prosthetics fell away. “Couldn’t you tell I’m a fellow creature, too?”
Henry and Britney blinked, lowering their raised webbed hands.
“Now, we need to clean up the mess, right?”
The two frowned yet turned around and split off to different rooms. Stacy crouched down and picked up her prosthetics. In a minute, each covered up her sharp teeth. It was not the first time another creature couldn’t tell her disguise from a regular human. Her eyes landed on the clock; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley would be back soon, and she’d get her fifty dollars.
