I can't feel pain, physically at least. Bringing the the cigarette to my cut and bloody lips, I inhale the toxic chemicals and glare at the now unconscious man who tried to hurt me on my way home. He had a knife on him so I got a few cuts, but nothing to make a fuss over. 'Jeez can't a girl walk home by herself without trying to get raped' I angrily thought at how shitty people are nowadays.

"Are you okay Scarlet?" A small female voice said from my forearm. Envy was a black king snake with silver eyes that could shift in size when needed. "Yes Envy, I'm fine like always" I smile at her as I continue walking home. She understood how much I loved the silence of the night so she put herself in sleep mode.

~~upon arriving home~~
"Envy, wake up. We're home now" I said like a mother to her sleepy child as I unlocked the door. "Okay." She said sleepily as I entered the house and shut the door behind me. I took off my all black high top converse and left them by the door. Walking alone my plush grey carpet, I went to my fairly large living room and opened the window.

Throwing off my favorite leather jacket, I plopped down on the couch and flipped on the Avengers. I reached over the coffee table with my scarred and tattooed arms to get my favorite lighter and carton of cigarettes and lit one of those fuckers up. "You shouldn't be smoking, you know. It's awful for your health" Envy said like a mother to her teenager while she sitting on the coffee table, giving me a concerned look.

"I don't care, you know I can't feel the pain. And I can fix my health problems on my own" I said in a bored tone as I focused on the movie. "Okay, I'm just worried for you that's all." She said with a little less worry. "Thank you for your concern, but I'm fine" I said lovingly as I scratched under her chin.

About ten minutes into the movie, I decided I wanted to go out again. "I'm gonna go out again, do you want me to shut you off?" I asked envy because she wants to sleep too. "That would be nice, thanks for asking" she said as she coiled around my neck, looking like a black choker. I shut her off and put my lighter, cancer sticks,and wallet into my pockets.

Slipping on my shoes and relocking the door. I start walking toward the park. I checked my spiked bracelet coil and saw it was 10. I figured no one would be out so I walked into the park and found a set of rusty swings. Crushing the dying cigarette with my shoe, I lit another one as memories came flooding back while sitting down on the old metal contraption.

~~~~~~~~memories~~~~~~~~~
"WHY? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? IVE ALWAYS BEEN A GOOD GIRL!!!!!!! TELL ME WHY YOU COWARD!!!!!!!" Little 6 year old me screamed as loud as her little lungs could, at her brother who was 4 years her senior.
He didn't say a word as he dragged her by the arm into a tower and led her into a cage, locking her up like a wild animal. He secured the shackles at her wrists and ankles with cuffs made with small knives so if she thrashed around, she would cut herself.
Once she was shackled, he shut the door and locked it. She thrashed and screamed, angry tears dripping down her cheeks "WHY? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? IVE BEEN NOTHING BUT GOOD TO YOU!" He looked her dead in the eye and monotonously said "Do you want to know why? It's because you're a monster" and left.
Bleeding from her small wrists, she thrashed everyday for a year until she decided to give up.  On her birthday, she sat on the hard stone floor, and looked blankly at the wall. At noon, he finally came in again to undo her shackles. Without eye contact or a word, He unlocked her and left. Loudly shutting the cage door behind him.
