He blinked.

Then abruptly, many thousands of individuals, their clothes smeared with mud, blood, and ashes, were dashing past him in a state of fear, accidentally bumping into him.

What should've been a long highway that would progressively fade into a rocky dirt path, has been converted into the recognizable materials utilized for city flooring. The tall structures surrounding him retained the same forms and layouts even though some of their features differed from those seen in the western regions. Feeling as though he had been thrust into the heart of the city, he wondered inwardly if this was a city square.

He's meant to be in a car wreck. Where is the truck that their vehicle hit? Where's the graphic moment where his classmates were crushed under the bus's shattered metal piles? Now there should be someone in front of him, severely injured by an electricity pole that fell on top of him, leaving a fractured head.

Mihail, motionless on the ground, observed the changed scene in front of him with a mix of bewilderment and fear. Everything remained ablaze, the orange glow engulfing every part of his anxious vision; nevertheless, Mihail was perplexingly seeing a giant monster ravaging a metropolis instead of the terrible state his companions had been left in following the accident—a monster the size of a high-rise building. Actually, given the extreme distance that currently separates him from it, it might even be larger.

There were several lesser monsters around Mihail right now, their forms equally as terrifying as the main one. They were dispersed over the area, each about the size of an adult human male, but none of them were close enough to Mihail to be a threat just yet. Their oddly shaped jaws bit into the skulls of those trying to flee, their claws drove sharp holes into people's stomachs, and their screams were just as monstrous as their looks. Like a particularly brutal scene in a film, Mihail's surroundings had taken on a terrifying, bloody appearance.

And far off, flashes of brilliant light could be seen darting here and there, their bodies burning like colorful fireflies and their pace on par with some of the swiftest creatures. They appeared to be valiantly battling the monsters, tearing them to ribbons and sending them plummeting to the ground like insects and bits of meat. Regretfully, though, none of them seemed to be paying any attention to the area Mihail was in. All of them appeared to have been positioned to go in the direction of the largest monster, however a few brave ones chose to take on a few of the creatures that were bothering the civilians en route.

Meanwhile, with their firearms, military men repelled the monsters that had escaped the kind superheroes' line of sight and helped the remaining civilians before escorting the remainder of the city out. Mihail noticed a group of military troops attempting to reach them, but were thwarted by the increased number of monsters in the vicinity.

'What's happening...?' He mumbled in his heart before blinking repeatedly, unable to believe what he saw. Did he die in the car crash too? Where is he? In a dream? ‘I never imagined myself to be the sci-fi, fantasy type of guy. It's been two years since I last played a game. Maybe its because of the movies I've been watching?’ If Mihail was truly dead and in this kind of state, he ought to be thinking about something quite different, Mihail thought to himself.

In his frozen form, a monster the size of two humans standing on top of each other shrieked a dozen meters in front of him, terrifyingly resonating across the place.

Mihail snapped out of his daze, as if the glass of incredulity around him had broken. He leapt to his feet, his light caramel hair contrasting sharply with everyone else's dark tones, and dashed to join the mob of people fleeing. No matter what's going on, it's obviously dangerous to stay here! He must first find a safe place!
