The Glitch

The begining

Great. Just great. It's my 18th birthday, and guess what my mom got me? A dress. A freaking dress. I'm really mad at her. I should explain who I am. The names' Suki Himata. I'm an 18-year-old trans man and Twitch streamer. I'm still a girl, sadly. I live in the south-west city of Japan, which is Kyoto. I have a really toxic mom who I'm pretty sure, is a gold-digger. My dad is the owner of a really big car company, Fukage. Anyways, I hear my mom coming, so I stuff the dress into my closet. 

"Suki!" She says as she basically breaks my door. "Why are you not wearing the dress I bought you?" I roll my eyes. "Oh please, bitch. You really think I'm going to wear that? You've got to be kidding." I can feel her getting angrier. "You ungrateful brat! Give me that dress! I would look so much better in it." she says smugly. I pull out the dress from my closet, give it one look, toss it to her and say, "Here, try it on. You're not gonna fit, but it's better to try, I guess." There. I've done it. "WHAT DID YOU-"

"Honey, is there a problem?" My dad calls from downstairs. "Oh no sweetie! We're just bonding!!!" She says in a terribly fake voice. She gives me a glare, unbuttons her blouse, and calls after him. "Ugh, such a slut. Don't you think, Soot?" Soot is my cat which I've been hiding from my parents. He mewls softly in agreement. Me and my dad both hate my mom. The only reason he is still with her is because the divorce papers haven't come yet.

Since it's Saturday, I head on outside after feeding Soot and reminding him for the millionth time to stay hidden. I take a walk, scrolling on my phone till I reach Osaka. It's the bar and restaurant I work at. "Sho! Wassup? How's Soot?" a light voice calls. "Oh, Hito, Soot's fine." Hito's my best friend. He's the only one I've come out to. "Happy Birthday bro! I got you something. It's in your locker." He says while fixing the table. "Oh thanks. Plus, your fly's open."

I walk away towards my locker. I put my stuff in it and pull out my uniform. It's a semi-formal set. Usually, girls would get skirts, but I got permission to wear pants. I see the gift Hito left for me and a smile plays on my lips. I take my uniform and head to the bathroom, a shiver passing down my spine. The thing is, I'm not allowed to go to the boy's washroom, obviously, but every time I enter the girls', I get a weird feeling I'm being watched. Not by a person, but by a thing. I know, it's weird.

I go ahead and change. I tie my hair in my classic bun and go to the front bar. "Hey Sho, you know boss's new assistant? Yeah, well she said that tomorrow we can bring pets to the bar. They will get their own pen at the back." Hito changes the front sign to 'Open'. My eyes widen. "Oh, holy Notch! You're saying that I can bring Soot?!" He smiles "Yeah, ya can. You can ask the assist for the details. Oh, and did you open my gift?" I shake my head. "No, I'll go open it now. Cover for me."

I run back to my locker as the people file in and pull out his gift. I open it and gasp. He got me a binder! I bolt towards the washroom, hurry into a stall and put it on. It takes some time, but I manage. I head back to the front bar, the smile glued to my face. Hito spots me. "Nice! Looking flat like a board. Now help me with these orders." I thank him for the gift as I pick up some plates and put them on a tray. I read the order number. Table 22.

"Here's your food. Anything else?" I ask as I set down the food. "Yeah, uh...Seven non-alcoholic champagne-Suki?!" I look up to realize that the people sitting are my classmates. "You work here?!" Chris, a foreign student asks. "Well, no shit." I roll my eyes. After that strange encounter, I take my stuff, thank Hito again and head on home. On the way, I bought some cat food for Soot.

"I'm home." I lock the door. "Oh, Happy Birthday, Suki! Your gift has finally arrived." My dad says with the biggest smile I have ever seen on him. He's waving some papers in the air. "Oh?" I look at him, confused.
