The Glitch

The start of it all

I look at him, confused. Papers? My birthday gift is paper? Ignoring how weird it is, I take a look at the papers and my eyes widen. These are the divorce papers! "You know, you have to share this gift with your mom. So, go ahead." I happily walk to my mom's room. I open the door, and the smell of roses invades my nose. Ew.

 "Hey, you. Dad got me a gift and apparently, I gotta share it with you. Also, pack all your stuff, if you can, we're going to shift to America." I mentally cringe as I look at what she's wearing: a short skirt and a crop top, both of which is 2 sizes small. "Oh, what a wonderful day! Tell your dad I'm packing. I can take everything?" she asks. "Mmhm, everything." I say as I leave her room.

The shifting thing is fake, that's kind of obvious. After 2 hours, she pulls about 7 suitcases from her room. "Sweetie? What's my gift?" she says in a fake nice voice. "Oh, read this. I don't have much time." my dad says, a tone of haste in his voice. She happily takes the papers. I watch her expression turn from glee to pure shock and anger. "What is this?! You can't divorce me! What about the memories we made?" My dad gives her a look of utter disgust. "Oh, please. What memories are you talking about?" 

I leave the room, as I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to stay. I immediately turn on my PC and start a Twitch stream. "Wassup, people. I'm back. Sadly, this isn't a gaming stream." I watch the chat wishing me for a happy birthday as I speak. "Remember I told you about my mom, right? Well, my parents have divorced." The chat bubbles with excitement. "Anyways, skipping that, this is a Q and A stream, so go ahead."

After what feels to have been 2 minutes, but was actually 2 hours, I turn my PC off. I notice a slight bulge on the back of my computer, but I ignore it. I read a book, but the bulge on my computer is the only thing on my mind. I set my book down and take another look at it. It's grown. I touch it and notice it's got a fur-like pattern. It keeps growing until it's five inches wide. I step back as it falls off my PC and onto the floor. If the situation couldn't get worse, it starts shaking.

I lock my door and keep my distance from the egg-shaped thing. The egg caught Soot's attention, so I picked him up to make sure he didn't touch it. Then, just for a moment, it stops shaking. I sigh in relief, but it was short-lived. The egg-thing cracks open, and something sticks out of it. A... paw? Soot mewls in confusion while I inch towards it. The rest of the egg opens. The creature inside is a- baby rabbit! "What the Notch?"

I put Soot down and pick up the baby rabbit. It opens one eye then the other, then purrs softly. "What the-" It then coughs, and a small cloud of purple smoke forms. "Welp, I dunno what to do, so I guess I'll keep you. This is a tomorrow problem." I say as my brain can't really process what happens. All the confusion makes me sleepy, so I go to sleep, completely forgetting about my parent's argument.
