"'How Are You Feeling, Button?!'" asked Scarlet.
"Much better, nice to get out of that cramped stall for a while, but I understand it; an injured horse needs to keep her legs well rested, Scarlet. Thanks for asking Scarlet."
"Your friends missed you in the pasture last evening. They wouldn't stop talking about you especially Calypso and Aztec and Jimber." Scarlet neighs very low.
"That's typical of them; it's not the first time I've been injured." Button neighs quietly. "Especially here. But no one has been as good as Sarah at calming me. Alma wasn't always my rider We've only been a team for 5 years. She's my best rider yet."
"Same with Sarah, she wasn't always my rider either." Scarlet responds. "But she's also been the best one yet too."
"I see you have a rattlesnake scar, have you been West before?" Button comments asking
"Yes, I have but not this far west." stated Scarlet. "Rattlesnake populations go as far southeast as Texas and there are some Northern mideastern straggling populations through the North Eastern states as far east as Ohio."
"Wow, I didn't know rattlesnakes lived so far North in the U. S." said Button.
"Humans from the Northeast don't talk about Northern Rattlesnake populations because people get so frightened of them, but the more you know the better prepared you are. I got bit by that rattlesnake before Sarah began ever learning to ride me." stated Scarlet neighing lowly. "Because I come from a long line of pure bred black Arabians from the Middle Eastern countries where no rattlesnakes exist my blood needs more time to make antibodies against it than you guys would."
"There are no snakes around here, Scarlet you won't have to worry about getting bit on this ranch again." Button stated. "I believe Shep & Angora; their presence keeps them far off the borders away from our chicken coop too. ""That's a relief!" sighed Scarlet snorting. "Sarah was struggling a lot when my older owner first saw that snake bite scar on my leg I still remember her big calm eyes flooded with tears."
"I remember that." Mosey purred from the railing the black cat and steadily jumped up onto it without the horses even hearing him and sat down in front of them. They did not hear him until he spoke to them.
"Mosey I wondered when you'd slink away from the barn at last!" neighed Scarlet. "It is why she got him he was a present from her Father to help her cope and focus on helping me get well by giving her comfort and helping her pray and telling her horses are extremely resilient creatures. I mean a bunch of them help produce anti venom from snake bites as much as a sheep does for all the venomous land snakes."
"Wow, then, Sarah must call you a Miracle Cat from time to time." Button said.
"She did and still does." Mosey responds. "My very name is a twisty fun playful variation of Moses. Sometimes us animals are destined to be stewards of miracles."
"Totally!" agreed Scarlett immediately. "Hop on, bud." The black cat leaped onto her back and sat on it as if they had always been friends. Pepper and Chili looked up from their romping together as Jimber, Calypso, as soon as Aztec mentioned their new farm tenant.
"Hey, look it's Mosey's Sarah's cat the friendly non grumpy not picky eater cat."
"You sure always do have a haybale full of long winded compliments for everyone, Aztec including the cats. Though grumpy when comes to Angora is a truthful fact not a compliment itself." Pepper snorted.
"Says the horse who is the best at being grumpy at everyone, Pep." Mosey teased her back. Pepper stepped back on all four hooves the next words she would have said got caught in her throat when Mosey made that genuine remark. Aztec bursted out a strong guttural neigh that was equivalent to laughter of people that was big and bold with Chili and Jimber. The other mares neighed lighthearted reminiscent of a very light chuckle. Scarlet nudged Pepper in the side as she walked over to her new herd's most stubborn high maintenance member.
"You gotta give to him, Pep, at least he's not slandering you but saying only the truth things." neighed Scarlet casually nuzzling her.
"Okay, that's enough with the comfort touching!" Pepper snorted. "I'm claustrophobic you know. I don't like being all touchy-touchy 24-7."
Scarlet immediately backed off as asked by Pepper as if she were Pepper's own daughter keeping close within her 10 Friendship rules."Wow, I always assumed you were but I am glad you confirmed that just now Pepper." Button said. "That explains your offset horse standards of a social herd life."
"I mind a horse who can mind my personal space, thank you, Scarlet, maybe in time we may just become decent horse friends." Pepper snorted.
"You're hilarious." Mosey chuckled.
"Someone's got to put the spice into this boring stable ranch, Mosey. I'm always the one who does it majority of the time." snorted Pepper agreeing with him.
