"I take it you're alive?" Sadie asked picking herself up from the floor.

"Unfortunately," was my labored response, still attempting to recover from the laughing fit. "What even happened cus my body hurts like hell!"

All eyes turned to Chan, who nervously raised his hand to rub his neck. "Look it wasn't my fault, you should've been more careful."

"I'm starting to blame you already, so spill and change my mind."

"Fine, fine. You were walking away from the car going back inside-"

"I remember that bit," I interrupted.

"Ok, how about we do this. Up to when do you know everything that happened?" Chan asked.

I took a moment thinking. "I remember the headlights, then hitting the ground. That's about it."

Chan nodded, "Ok, we'll start there then. The truck you thought it would be a good idea to have a stare-down with, wasn't stopping. It kept coming closer and you weren't moving- Wait why didn't you move?" Chan interrupted himself.

I shrugged, "I don't know. I tried to." I looked down at my lap, fiddling with my fingers.

Chan sighed and then continued. "Well, I had to get you out of the way...

*Flashback, Chan's POV*

"...whatever floats your boat buddy. I'll be inside taking care of your children." Y/n laughed as she walked away.

I chuckled to myself and locked the doors. I turned around just as Y/n made her way into the driveway. A large truck rounded the corner way too fast... "WATCH OUT Y/N!" I yelled as I took of running. She seemed to move in slow motion, facing the truck head on. "MOVE, COME ON!" I grabbed her arm, diving off to the side. I wrapped her in my arms in an attempt to protect her.

But I couldn't...

The side of her head, which I had fortunately placed my hand around, smacked into the hard ground as we landed. "Y/N!" I gently held her head in my hands, watching her eyes slowly close. "Please, come on. Open your eyes." My fingers trembled as they caressed her peaceful looking face. Tears blurring my vision, I pulled her onto my lap, holding her head close to my chest. "Please don't leave. I think Sadie really needs you, more than you think. Please-" My voice broke.

"Y/N! Chan?" I turned my head to see the doors fly open. Sadie rushed out first. "What did you do to her?"

"Nothing! There was a car then-" My voice gave up and was overtaken by my cries.

"She looks peaceful at least," Sadie commented quietly. Tears rolled down her face as she caressed the younger girl's face.

A mess of rushed footsteps came closer. I looked back up to find everyone outside now forming a protective circle around us. "What happened Sadie?" One of the girls spoke up.

"I'll fill you in later..." Sadie managed to get out, wiping her tears. She was trying to be strong for them.

"Is Y/nie ok?" Another one of them asked. All the words began to muffle as the ringing in my head got louder. I looked back down at the girl in my arms feeling horrible. I could've protected her right? I tried. I tried so hard to protect her-

A hand on my shoulder brought me out of my spiraling thoughts. "Hyung." A gentle voice from my side spoke up. I looked up to find Seungmin with red eyes. "She'll be ok."

"It's my fault," I struggled to get the words out. "I tried to protect her-" More tears choked me.

"You did what you could, Hyung." Seungmin rubbed my back consolingly.
