Lily stared at her reflection, a furrow forming between her brows.

"Seriously? A plaid shirt? On a Friday?"

She sighed, pulling the fabric tighter around her. It wasn't that the shirt was hideous, it just felt...wrong.

Today was supposed to be a good day. Her friends were coming over after school, and they were going to see that new rom-com everyone was talking about.

A soft buzz from her pocket startled her.  She pulled out her phone, a grin spreading across her face as she saw the message from her best friend, Chloe.

"You ready for tonight?" it read, followed by a string of emojis.

Lily typed back, "Totally! Can't wait to see you!"

She tucked her phone back into her pocket, heading for the door.

"See you later, Mom!" she called over her shoulder as she walked out.

As Lily walked to school, her phone vibrated again. This time, the message was from an unknown number.

"Hey," it read. "I think you're really pretty."

Lily's heart skipped a beat.  She reread the message, a blush creeping up her cheeks.  She was sure it was some random guy she'd probably never met before, probably trying to be smooth.  She didn't know what to say back, but she wasn't keen on just ignoring it.

She typed, "Uh, thanks?" and sent it.

The reply came almost instantly.

"You look really cute in that plaid shirt."

Lily felt a shiver crawl down her spine.  He knew about the shirt. The same shirt she'd only worn once before.  Her phone started buzzing again as the messages piled up, each one more personal and seemingly intimate.

This wasn't just a random guy. This was something else entirely.
