"Hey Linds, do you need your inhaler?" Johnna asked me and Clay and I entered the car. Johnna is like a mother to me. Her and my mom were college roommates and have watched me grow up since I was a baby.

"Yes. Please" I say as she hands me my inhaler "today's practice. were brutal," saying between using my inhaler.

"If this pattern keeps up I am going to need to talk to the coaches. Exercising is important for your lungs but this is causing more damage. Do they not let you sit out when needed?" She said as we started pulling out of the parking lot.

"There is never a good time for me to take a break."

"BULL!" Clay yells at me, "they give you plenty of opportunity, you're just too stubborn to take a break." He was not wrong. I always tested the limit of how far my body could be pushed, and quite frankly I never wanted to appear weak to the coaches. If I was smart I would not have agreed to do three competitive cheer teams for the next two months.

"Lindsay, you have to take breaks when you can. Otherwise we are going to have to pull you from one of the teams and I know that's the last thing you are going to want to do." Johnna says in the kind of tone that only a mother can pull out. With hints of disappointment, anger, care, and love. The car ride back to my house was 45 minutes and we stopped for some food from Chick-fa-lay.

Clay and I spend the bulk of the car ride doing homework and making small talk. When we were about 10 minutes away from my house I checked my phone to see where my parents were. Nichole, Alex and Amelia all had double shifts at the hospital so I have not gotten to see them in over 2 days. They were all so tired that they had Rick come pick them up so to say the least I missed my parents and was super excited to see that we have timed it perfectly to where we would get home at the same time. I started to pack up all my homework that had been spread across the back seat from trying to do my homework and my nebulizer.

Sitting at our red light finally all packed up I watch as a F-150 zooms parallel to us going at least 60 MPH us completely t-boning into a blue Toyota RAV-4. CRASH. The sound of the car's hood crumpling, airbags deploying, tires screeching, and door crushing upon impact will never leave my mind.
