Holy shit. I'm 21. Today is the day.
I woke up like it was an ordinary day but as I checked my phone and remembered that I'm finally 21, the text messages and missed phone calls reminding me. I need to make last minute plans with my two best friends for tonight. I text them both in a group message that reads
"Hey girls, party tonight at the bar down the street?"
They both answer with a yes immediately. Oh, and did I mention? I'm the baby of the group. Yup, my best friends are both 26.
That's a huge reason why I've been waiting for this day for so long but another reason is so that I could completely move out of my parent's house and rely only on myself. Today I will come out to my parents, let them know that I like girls and that that isn't going to change. They may disown me, never want to speak to or see me again. But hey, at least I have a roof over my head independently now.
I knew that I liked girls at a very young age but my parents never caught on through all of the girlfriend's I've had and everything that's happened. They always disapproved of anything other than me being with guys, and I kept up with the act the entire time. But now I don't have to anymore
