A/N: Welcome to the embodiment of angst. This will be a fairly angsty story, but I hope it keeps your attention and love! <3

Warning: This will probably NOT have super frequent updates like I normally do, as it's taking me awhile to write. Life has been so, so, so incredibly busy and I keep getting sick. Please keep this in mind.

Ever since they were children, Minho has been tied to Chan in one way or another. It makes sense that their continuous pairing throughout life would result in a union, even if that's not what Minho wants. Chan is a great person, great man, great alpha, great leader. He is kind and caring, and has the weight of the world on his shoulders. He hunts well, fights well, and he's certainly nice to look at. If anyone else were in Minho's position when Chan said he was ready to make Minho the pack's Luna, leading by his side, they would have been ecstatic.

But they aren't Minho.

He has never been attracted to anyone in a romantic sense- alpha, beta, or omega. He is content with the understanding that he likely just isn't meant for romance, no matter how lovely of an experience it seems. He has dreams of kisses and long walks, raising pups and teaching them to hunt, cuddling after long nights and having his own person he can share everything with, but no one has ever fit the description of the person doing it with him.

Even Chan.

When he sees the pack alpha, he sees his best friend. The same boy who plucked flowers and made Minho a crown of them. The boy he shared his first kiss with, only to be surprised when it was like hand-holding- just skin touching skin. The boy who brought him back an entire elk from his first hunt to make a show out of providing for "his" omega. The man he had spent countless hours and days with, only to feel nothing as described in their books and texts about love. That just isn't meant for him.

He said yes to Chan's proposal, of course, because it's his duty. He was raised for this. Their parents planned this. Minho teaches other omegas to sew, and cook, and bake, and everything else he detests spending his time on. It's his job. He doesn't mind working with the healers, or taking care of children, or being the go-to person for civil issues and complaints within the pack, he just wishes he could do more.

The first time he asked to be allowed on a hunt, Chan shot it down immediately. It was "too dangerous." The first time a pack member came back injured from a hunt in the gray territory, Minho had to fight for the right to help him- Chan was worried about him seeing such a gory sight. He proved himself by cleaning up the wolf's fur and stitching the skin together after shaving, but he did have to fight for it.

The gray territory- Minho isn't even allowed near it. Their land borders the neutral territory filled with abundant resources. Their pack has wanted to take it for quite some time, but they're unable. The savage wolves on the other side of the gray hunt like it's theirs. Everyone knows the risks they take walking into the "neutral" zone.

So Chan doesn't let Minho risk anything by getting close. He's the future Luna, so he's too important, in Chan's words.

The alpha is so loving, and has a good heart- Minho knows. He's just... too overprotective. There's a line, and it was crossed when they were kids, Chan slicing the face of a random wolf in the gray for stepping too close and sniffing Minho. Minho remembers letting him. The wolf with a pretty charcoal coat slowly walked toward him, head down and eyes soft to show that he wasn't a threat. He never wanted to hurt Minho, based on his sweet, excited scent, but it didn't matter when Chan came barreling in.

He loves the pack alpha, just not in the way Chan loves him. He doesn't want to be protected to the point where he isn't allowed to learn self-defense. He doesn't want to sit at home sewing, or cooking. It feels prehistoric in the nature of equality.
