She sat by her window, shivering as the tears rolled down her pale face. Her bones groaned with agony as she pulled the soft blanket tighter around herself.

"let me up my love, I must see you this instant " he yelled from below. She peered out to her husband as he stood drenched in the late summer rain. She wanted to let him up, it'd been 52 days since their last embrace but alas, she couldn't.

" I can't let that happen Thomas, I cannot let you suffer my fate" she yelled back at him. The woman coughed intensely as her spouse looked at her with concern. As she wiped the vermillion that dripped from her mouth with her bony hand she wailed out to him, " forget about me and find another"

He gave her a sad smile." how does one forget and replace a golden sunset on the sea? I want to be with you Elizabeth! I do not care, I refuse for the white death to keep up apart."

She smiled at her ever so persistent man.

A lump slowly formed in her throat and she could feel her breath getting slower. Her body slowly went numb. Her cat Sicilly snuggled beside her as she fell to the ground, and all she could hear before her world went black was her man screaming for her, " I am coming Elizabeth! Hold on!"

It'd been 1826 days of living in this world of snowflakes and translucency. She sat bored by her windowsill snuggled in her soft blanket as she watched the others go about their normal routine. The children played in the perennial snow whilst the men and women spent the day riding horses and picking the frosty flowers  that bloomed off the side walks.
The population changed everyday, with phantoms disappearing off the edge of the world and new ones coming in to replace the old ones promptly.

She often wondered what happened at the edge, unfortunately every time she crossed it herself she ended up back in her room as if she'd never left.

The brunette wondered if she'd ever be able to cross that border and escape the twilight.

The dark train whistled loudly as it crossed the valley across the neighborhood and Elizabeth gathered herself off the balcony to get ready for bed. However she stopped suddenly when 2 shooting stars moving on the ground  caught her eye.

How peculiar, she thought. Shooting stars on the ground.

There was a loud noise of what sounded like it could've been a machine at a factory. Children cleared the pathway as the stars got closer to her.

There was yelling she couldn't make out till the vehicle stopped in front of her window and a man got out looking distressed.

He dusted the falling snow off his head and looked up with a giant smile on his face. A smile she knew all too well.

She rushed out of her room and floated downstairs in a hurry only to tackle him in the tightest embrace. He melted into her arms instantly, taking in her warm comfort.

He pulled apart and looked at his wife.
" you look pale darling, have you not been eating well?" he asked.

She pulled the blanket around them to shelter them from the falling ice, " I have, but we all carry our death with us and I guess this look is my burden to carry for eternity"

As soon the words escaped her, realization hit.

" Thomas you're dead!"

He smirked, " huh I guess I am then."

" how? Was it the white death? Did you get it from me? Thomas I'm so sor-"

He cut her off before she could finish, " oh no no, don't worry. I driving this thing and I guess somewhere along the path it slipped. Next thing I know is waking up here. And for some reason, I just knew you'd be here so I came to check up on you. But do not worry, I'm okay, neck feels a little wonky, but I'm okay"

She had noticed his head seemed unusually  tilted to the right, but he seemed alright and there was no use obsessing over it.

She looked to see the stars on her right, they seemed to be attached to a carriage of some sort.

" I must say these are some interesting stars, how ever did you get them? " Elizabeth  questioned.

" oh these, this is a car, I built it myself, with a little help of course. They are  like a carriage, but without a horse"

" a carriage that runs without a horse!?"

" yes, I helped build it too"
The brunette marvel Ed at her husband's genius. He'd always wanted to become an inventor of sorts, leave his make on history. Unfortunately, that was never to be now.
" do you want a ride?" he asked eagerly and ran to open the door for her.

She nodded and got gleefully into the fascinating machine. Thomas quickly slid in beside her in the driver's seat.

" so, where are we going to go? " she asked as her hand intertwined with his.

" wherever we want love, I'll drive off the edge of the world for you"

Thomas, the ever dramatic.

She giggled. " you know, the edge of the world is not too far off from here"

" well then what are we waiting for? Let's go"
