Riiiiiiiing
Finally! It's Richie's favorite sound. Better than the sound of the ice cream truck, or the sound of waking up to no alarm, and only second to Eddie's cute voice, the sound of the final bell for the year.
Before he knows it, Richie's at the trash cans, emptying his backpack with Eddie, Stan, and Bill right by his side.
Before he knows it, he's riding his bike home with a stupid grin stuck to his face.
Before he knows it, it's finally summer. A time when he doesn't have to worry about Bowers or school or homework, he can just be free.
The only thing he can hear now is the summer air blowing through is hair, and a weirdly familiar car engine following him.
Oh shit. Bowers.
Richie starts to pedal a little bit faster as he starts his way up the hill that his house is on, but he hears the car engine pick up speed, and soon he sees the ugly mustard yellow truck come into view.
"Hey Fag! All alone, no 'Spaghetti Man' to save you." He mocks Richie, and Richie flips him off. All he can hear is Bowers' laughter and the engine speed up even more, and Bowers rides off into the distance.
Richie eventually makes it up the steep hill, out of breath, and throws his bike into the garage.
"Hey Mama." Richie greets Maggie in the kitchen, and kisses her on the cheek. He then runs upstairs up to his attic bedroom and closes the door behind him.
He had gotten a telephone the previous Christmas, so now he could call the losers whenever he wanted to, as they all already had telephones. Richie walks up to the telephone and dials in Eddie's number, and waits.
After a few minutes, "...Hello?"
"Hey Eds!"
"Oh, hi Rich, what's up?"
"We still on for the quarry tomorrow?" I ask, hopeful.
"Well... Bill said he wanted to go to the sewers again..." I hold back a groan and silently swear to myself.
"Can't we do that another time? We've had these plans for days!"
I heard Eddie frustratedly huff from the line, "...Fine, I'll call and ask."
I hear him hang up, and a few minutes later, it rings again. I quickly pick it up with anticipation. "Hello?"
"He said fine, as long as we do it the day after." When hearing that, I silently party with myself, then hang up.
I can hardly contain my excitement that night. This is gonna be the best summer ever...
Hey guys! First off, sorry! I know it's a really short chapter, but it's a build up, I promise! I'm gonna write longer chapters later, I swear! Love you guys!💗
