AIAH
As the class went on with small chatter, the bell rang for dismissal. Everyone quickly gathered their things, eager to leave, except for Mikha, who seemed to be in no rush. I took a moment, still beside her, watching the others stream out of the room."Ang bilis nila makaalis" I laughed softly, packing my stuff.
Mikha stood up but didn't seem to mind the silence between us, which made me wonder again if she had something on her mind. As the last of our classmates walked out, the door creaked behind them and then, a loud metallic click echoed through the room.
"Wait...was that the lock?" I asked, eyes wide.
Mikha moved towards the door to check, and sure enough, it was bolted from the outside. She gave a soft sigh and knocked.
"Kailangan ba talagang mangyari to ngayon?" I muttered, realizing we were stuck. "Mukhang 'di nila napansin na nandito pa tayo."
Mikha shrugged and sat back down calmly as if this wasn't an inconvenience at all. But I felt my pulse quicken. Two of us, alone, locked inside together?
"Do you think they'll notice?" I asked, hoping Mikha would at least give some reaction.
She pulled out her phone and raised an eyebrow at me. "Chill, Aiah."
But I couldn't chill. This was the perfect chance.
I plopped down on my chair beside her and leaned in, testing the waters. "Wanna tell me something now? You literally can't escape me" I teased, flashing a smile.
Mikha met my gaze, then looked away with a small smirk. "We'll see."
I blinked, a little surprised.
It was barely there, but it felt like progress.
I leaned back in my chair, folding my arms. "We'll see? That's it? Come on, give me something," I teased, trying to keep things light despite the growing tension in my chest.
Mikha glanced at her phone and sighed.
"You always want to talk."
"Of course! You're my seatmate, and we've been in the same class, pero wala pa rin akong alam about you." I pouted dramatically, hoping to get even just a small story from her. "You don't even share kahit konting memory man lang."
She tilted her head slightly, contemplating. "Bakit mo ba gustong malaman?"
"Because," I said, leaning closer, "I think you're interesting, and I want to know more."
Mikha's eyes flicked to mine, and for a moment, I saw something soften in her gaze. But just as quickly as it appeared, it was gone. "Interesting, huh?" she mumbled, before turning her focus back to her phone.
