Chapter XVII

There is a strange vibe, I don't know if only I perceive it. I felt it the other day in the office with Denki and I feel it every time we're alone.

It's already mid-September and the air is starting to feel colder. Since Audi sent their new proposal I have been very busy, I usually leave at 8, but this week I have been leaving at 10. I was very focused and I didn't notice the time, it was almost 11. Nao-senpai came to my office a few hours ago to let me know that he was going to leave early because the car had a problem and he won't be able to take us home. Jun-san and Nao-senpai left together because they were, "apparently", going in the same direction.

When I went down to the lobby I was deciding whether to walk or order an Uber, since the bus no longer runs at this time. When I got out of the elevator I saw him, he wasn't wearing his hero suit, he had changed into his casual outfit. For some reason I hid, it's not like I was avoiding him, but there was something that didn't add up to me. He was very focused on his phone. He's standing there by the door, lost in the screen. Seeing him from a distance I could notice other types of details: he wore his hair in a half ponytail so his smile wasn't hidden under his black hair streak, the way he held his phone with one hand, the way he leaned against the sofa in the lobby. I was deciding whether to walk to the door and pretend I didn't see him or exit through the parking lot, when a notification suddenly rang on my phone.

-¡Oh!, there you are. I was waiting for you.- Denki greeted me from a distance when he realized my presence.

-Oh, me?- I said, coming out of my hiding place walking towards him.

-Yes, they told me you were still here so I waited for you to take you back. I was surprised to hear that you were still working, I mean, that's not unusual for you. But with that thing about transportation not being available, I didn't want you to go alone, it's too late. It's dangerous to be on the street at this time - I looked at him without saying anything and felt that vibe again. -All good? You look tired. I mean, you don't look bad, just tired, a little gone. I don't have a car, but I'll accompany you. We can walk, the weather is pleasant, we can go through the park, buy taiyakis along the way. But if you're really tired we can just ask for an Uber... -

At this point I wasn't listening to him anymore, he was just getting more and more tangled in his own words. But I understood what he meant, his concern.

-Let's just go- I said smiling.

I grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of the building. Once outside I let him go.

Strangely he didn't say anything after that, we walked in silence for a few minutes.

Suddenly he received a notification, he took out his phone and smiled without saying anything.

-Something important?- I asked after a while.

-Uh?-

-Did you receive an important message? You been looking at your phone smiling non stop-

-Do you mean when you were spying on me?

-I wouldn't call it that- I said with a pout while Denki laughed at me.

-It's just the Bakusquad chat-

-"They call themselves The Bakusquad".-

-"What a bunch of a-holes"- reply Denki and we both laugh.

-No, seriously. I still don't get it why you call yourselves the Bakusquad? Is he the leader or something? Or is he just that self-centered?

Dynamight is a good hero, he has his anger problems, but I must admit that he is one of the best heroes, not only because he is usually in the top 3. He is truly one of the best I have ever met. In this job you come across many personalities. Bakugo as a person is tolerable if you barely know him, as a hero there is no doubt that he knows what he is doing.
