RACHELLE'S POV
"So, this is where you'll be staying for the next few months?" I say, while looking around the small apartment.
"Yup, home sweet home I guess" Carter says, with a cheeky, amused grin
"but where's your bed?"
"I was hoping that one, and Luke can sleep on the couch, but I think it'll be the other way around" Carter says stepping closer to me, watching me assess the room.
"I think we had a page about these kind of apartments in corpo a few months ago: the do's and dont's of decor" I say thinking to myself
"Do: leave a cluttered mess in every room?" he says jokingly, stepping even closer to me, holding the most intense eye contact ever, GOD his eyes are majestic.
"Don't: make an old office an apartment" I clap back, subtly taking a small step back
he doesn't seem to take the hint and he keeps stepping closer, grabbing one of his bags in the meantime, setting it on the table, and unziping it slowly. "Do: make your room look like the antique shop next door?" He says, playing with me now.
"Do: leave the decorating for your girlfriend, I dont think you have much skill in decor, Carter" i say with a teasing grin
He seems to tense when I mention a girlfriend, and I immediatly slap myself internally, omg Rache you cant just assume someone is in a happy relationship!!!" I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that..."
"It's fine, I just had to end one recently so it's been kinda tough. Losing a job and then your girlfriend a day later isn't usually on someones bucket list.
"OMG that's horrible i'm so sorry, were you two together for long?" I ask, still feeling horrible
"ya, 5 years, she left me the second I told her They fired me. didn't realize she was only in it for the money. I guess you only see someone's true colors when theyr'e at their lowest." I only see his frown last another second, and then his cheeky grin is back, I wonder if it's just an act, but it looks so genuine. "So, miss gilmore, how bout you? Is there a lucky guy?" He says, I swear he looks as if he's hopeful I'll say no
