Amethyst's POV
"Vaezidor"
His words echoed in my head like a nightmare I couldn't escape and a cape of unease enveloped me as I sat in my room emotionless.
Memories of the years I spent away from my mother and the kingdom, without a ruler, swamped my mind and encaged my otherwise warm heart in a cold and disheartening cage.
I couldn't let this be my weakness. I have to get over it.
Make it your strength, Amethyst. Think.
"What must we do now, your highness?" The Chief of Royal Troops spoke, bringing me back to reality.
So far, all I knew was whom to attack, where to attack and when to attack.
But not the main dilemma in my heart,
Why was she attacked after 10 years?
What did he do to you mother...
"Prepare for war."
The words escaped my lips like a silent whisper. Had there been even the sound of wind when I said it, it would go unheard.
These words, however, cut through the suffocating silence like steel, almost putting the Chief in a temporary trance of worry.
"But-"
"We are strong enough now Chief. We were weak before and that's what they choose to believe as our present state too. We'll use it to our advantage."
Yes, I accept we were weak, but we were never meant to be a fallen kingdom or just another mere Mythology for future generations.
We were meant to destroy and rule.
"We are just 90 Thousand troops, Your Majesty. After the recent war, we are left with insufficient resources to continue our normal training. How can we prepare for a war against a Kingdom much greater than ours, in both wealth and man?"
He was right. It stung my pride to accept it. But I knew we had to take this step now, since the wounds are still fresh and the anger of our men was boiling more than ever.
It is now or never.
"Arelyn!" I called out to my courtier.
Within the blink of an eye, I found her standing before me with an anticipating frown on her face. She was still a child, a few years younger than me. I myself would've been a mere trainee warrior for the army and a carefree Lady to Pheodour, had fate not decided otherwise.
"Send treaties of peace and unity to our neighbouring kingdoms and the dear ones. Ask them for aid to help destroy Vaezidor. As one."
Her eyes widened but she retained her usual calm demeaner as she nodded and walked away.
What could a child even say in front of a Queen anyway? She was my courtier as a lady and saw me go from just another one of her silly Royal friends to The Queen of Pheodour.
She was bound to be dumbstruck.
"7 days from now, we attack Vaezidor."
"Your wish is my command, Your Royal Highness."
I saw him walk away with an anxious yet fierce emotion painted all over his face. I was anxious myself, I don't blame him.
But my anxiety could never overpower the overwhelming hatred and bloodthurst I posess for the royals of Vaezidor.
7 days.
Not more not less. It's the beginning of your end Christopher Fitzgerald.
