Hyunjin reluctantly sat down among the other people present on this dreary day in the elegant office space. All were close relatives of his late friend. He felt out of place. He could not understand why the lawyer contacted him and insisted on attending the reading of his friend's will.

He discreetly scanned the room. His gaze fell on a young man, a brunet with a sharp profile who sat at the back of the room as he did, and looked just as awkward and out of place as he did. The stranger met his gaze and they shared a shy smile.

Pretty soon everyone took their seats and the lawyer, Mr. Choi, a middle aged man with gentle features, began to read their friend's will.  Sniffles and low gasps were heard during the reading. Hyunjin could feel the emotion and sadness of his friend's family permeate the air. Every now and then he stole glances at the other young man, but the brunet kept his eyes fixed in front of him, seemingly listening to the lawyer without even blinking. Hyunjin sighed.

The reading ended with no mention of Hyunjin or any other unfamiliar name. The family members rose from their seats and greeted the lawyer in hushed tones, discreetly wiping away tears and exchanging gentle smiles of sympathy and understanding. The deceased was a very dear and likeable person. He was sure to be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Hyunjin shook hands with his friend's parents, whispering words of comfort. Eventually everyone left except him, the unknown young man and the lawyer.

"Hyunjin! Minho!" Mr Choi greeted them with a firm handshake and a warm smile. "I am so glad you made it. Allow me to express my deepest condolences for your loss." "Thank you, Mr Choi." The other young man, Minho, spoke up. "But I don't understand why you called us here today."

The lawyer smiled somewhat cryptically. "All will be clear in a few minutes. Please, sit down." He pointed to the two armchairs closest to his desk. The two men sat down, both looking curious.

"Well..." Mr Choi began to speak. "You are -were- both close and dear friends of his. But you have never met each other. Correct?" Both Hyunjin and Minho nodded. "Your friend wanted to rectify this." Mr Choi smiled, albeit wistfully. The two young men looked at him in bewilderment. "It is your late friend's wish that you spend a day doing the things he loved to do with each of you individually, together." Said Mr Choi in one breath.

Hyunjin and Minho stared at the lawyer, still confused. "Why?" Minho asked. Hyunjin glanced at him warily. Did he perhaps find him unlikeable and this pointless? For him, his initial instinct was to respect his friend's wish. He thought it was important... He opened his mouth to speak.

Mr Choi raised his hand, stopping any further interruption. "At the end of the day, he wants you to read these letters. Each one alone. The letters will answer any questions you may have." He added handing them both a sealed white envelope. "He hopes that you will indulge him one last time." He smiled kindly at them both.
