CLARA
My best friend Lee holds my phone up high, running around the house in a teasing manner. I can't believe I've been friends with her since we were kids. "Lee, don't you dare look through my phone!" I shout, chasing her around the living room.
She laughs, her curly brown hair bouncing with each step. "Come on, Clara! It's not like I haven't seen it all before."
"Not the point!" I leap over the couch, tackling her to the ground and snatching my phone back. "You're insufferable."
Lee holds a hand full of bouncy brown curls that frame her mischievous green eyes, a stark contrast against her light brown skin. Her angelic features hardly conceal her demonic personality. It's quite stressful.
She throws me her devilish smirk, while sipping her coffee as I chuckle. "You love me."
"Debatable," I mumble, heading to the kitchen to start making breakfast. Lee sits at the bar, scrolling through her phone. "What do you want for breakfast?"
"Anything but your terrible pancakes," she replies, sticking her tongue out at me. I throw a dish towel at her, rolling my eyes.
As I hand her the coffee, Lee huffs, "I don't want to go to work."
"Well, you're going to have to. And don't forget, I'm your superior," I scoff while rolling my eyes as she sips her coffee.
She smirks, "Yes boss lady. Now can we get changed and go. I want to see that sexy delivery guy."
"You sleepover here way too much. And I'm pretty sure he is married."
"How'd you know that?" She glares and I laugh at her baby-like behaviour.
"I saw his ring, and I heard Dana talking about it."
After breakfast, we get ready for work. Lee whines throughout the whole duration of us getting changed and the ride to work. "Talk about being a baby," I whisper amusingly to myself.
The driver dropped us off earlier than usual since there's less traffic today. We're currently on our way to my office. Lee's role is like that of an event planner for the company—she has the best contacts and is incredibly smart. She's like my right-hand woman, managing the department that handles our events and appearances.
As we take a seat in my office, we're interrupted by a knock at the door. My assistant Natalie enters. "So, today you have interviews for some roles in the company, a meeting with Derek and Jordan, and an overview of some documents. After lunch, you have nothing scheduled. And hey, Lee!" Natalie says, slightly out of breath.
Lee giggles next to me as I smile widely at her. Natalie is an innocent soul, pure and kind-hearted. We consider her a friend, and she just makes you want to protect her. She's short, with brown locks and faint freckles that complement her skin. I'm pretty sure Lee likes her, but with Lee, it's hard to tell—she tends to like anything that breathes.
