Argument

Mason and Y/N were driving down the road, the tension in the car palpable. They had been arguing for the past half-hour, and neither of them seemed willing to back down. The fight had started over something trivial, but it had quickly escalated, and now they were both feeling frustrated and hurt.

Y/N stared out the window, watching the scenery blur past as Mason kept his eyes firmly on the road. The silence between them was deafening, and Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. They had been together for years, and they had never had a fight like this before.

As they approached a red light, Mason finally broke the silence. "Look, I'm sorry, okay?" he said, his voice low and apologetic. "I didn't mean to get so worked up. I just. I don't know, I guess I was feeling a little stressed and I took it out on you."
Y/N turned to face him, their eyes meeting for the first time since the argument had started. "I'm sorry too," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I shouldn't have pushed you like that. I know you've been under a lot of pressure lately."

Mason nodded, his grip on the steering wheel loosening slightly. "I just. I feel like we're always fighting these days, you know?" he said, his brow furrowed in concern. "I don't want that to be the case. I love you, Y/N, and I don't want to lose you."

Y/N reached out and placed a hand on his arm, giving it a gentle squeeze. "You're not going to lose me Mason," she said, her voice reassuring. "We're going to get through this, I promise. We just need to learn how to communicate better, that's all."

Mason nodded again, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You're right," he said, his voice steadier now. "We've been through a lot together, and we're not going to let a little argument tear us apart."

As the light turned green, Mason pressed down on the gas pedal and the car lurched forward. They drove in silence for a while, both of them lost in their own thoughts. Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of relief, knowing that they had been able to work things out.

But as they approached their destination, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that something was still off. Mason seemed distant, his eyes focused on the road ahead. Y/N reached out and placed a hand on his arm, but he barely acknowledged the gesture.

"Mason, are you okay?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.

Mason sighed heavily, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. "I'm fine, Y/N," he said, his voice flat and emotionless. "I just. I need some time to myself, that's all."

Y/N felt her heart sink. She had thought that they had worked things out, but it was clear that Mason was still upset. "Mason, please talk to me," she said, her voice pleading. "I want to help you, but I can't do that if you won't let me in."

Mason shook his head, his jaw set in a hard line. "I just need some space, okay?" he said, his voice sharp. "I'll be fine, I just need to clear my head."

Y/N felt a lump forming in her throat. She didn't know what to say, and she  couldn't help but feel like they were losing Mason. They sat in silence for the rest of the drive, both of them lost in their own thoughts.

When they finally arrived at their destination, Mason pulled into the driveway and turned off the car. He sat there for a moment, his hands still gripping the steering wheel. Y/N waited, hoping that he would say something, anything, to break the silence.

Finally, Mason turned to face them, his eyes filled with a mixture of emotions. "I'm sorry, Y/N," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just. I need some time to figure things out, okay? I don't want to hurt you, but I need to do this for myself."
Y/N felt her heart break. She had never seen Mason like this before, and she didn't know what to do. "Mason, please don't shut me out," she said, her  voice trembling. "I love you, and I want to help you, but I can't do that if you won't let me in."

Mason reached out and took Y/N's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.
