Summer

After pulling herself together a little and quite a while of driving, she now stood on the pavement in front of a huge block, or rather behind.

Polly opened a small back door that might have gone unnoticed by most people. But there probably wouldn't be too many people strolling around in this dark alley anyway.

Only now, the thought that she might have run from one trap into another crossed Nyssa's mind. Quickly, she scrambled that theory, though. She trusted Polly, didn't she?

As she entered the lobby, a smell of alcohol and cigarettes made its way into her nose. Before registering more of the room, a man who looked really similar to Polly in terms of horns and eyes entered her view. "Ah, hello, Miss Evensen, long time no see. Tell me, who is it that you brought with you? Is it...? No, that can't be, right? Did you bring the little hybrid? What a pleasure," the man said as he reached for Nyssa's hand and firmly shook it.

Not able to react quickly enough, Nyssa stood there frozen as a third set of thoughts entered her brain. Distinguishing between Jonathan Devoe's thoughts and hers was already difficult enough. Now, she also had the thoughts of this man in her head.

Nyssa shifted her entire focus on trying to shove away the thoughts that weren't hers, but how was she able to when she didn't even know which were hers, when it was so loud so in her head? She didn't even hear the snappy awnser of Polly.

All Nyssa heard was Panic, probably from Devoe. Or was it hers? And a hurt ego, was it the one of the sun-looking guy? Also, there was some slight anger bubbling under the surface somewhere. The thoughts were flying around in her mind, untouchable and free like birds.

Oh Polly, how I wish I had you in my arms again. Why would you do this to me? Help me, please. The audacity as if she was something better. What will I say when the council arrives? Who am I? Oh, and how beautiful she looked. Annoying, these people should have been wiped off the earth decades ago. I am lost.

Polly, who noticed Nyssa's absent-mindedness, dragged her at her shoulder, away from this guy, with her keys in hand.

The woman guided Nyssa through the halls into an elevator that seemed many years too old to properly function. All that without Nyssa batting an eye, soullessly staring into the void.

Worried Polly pushed Nyssa onto the bed, the second they arrived in her room. Shaking her, Polly shouted her name at her, but she seemed so far away.

"Don't touch me skin to skin," Nyssa mumbled as if it took all of her will to speak those few words. "What?" Polly asked, panicking as she saw how the girl seemed to drift away.

"I can hear their thoughts," Nyssa muttered as she collapsed.

I tightly held her in my arms. Smelled her beautiful long brown locks. They reminded me of summer. The summer I lived and desired oh so much with all of my heart and soul.

The summer, that was all around us, in the wind, in the water, in the plants, and more importantly in my arms.

Never have I encountered such a warm embrace, such lulling love, such a caring heart. Never will I ever let go of that feeling.

But pice by piece the summer got ripped away from me, no matter how tightly I held on. Where there was warmth before nothing, nothing at all was left. Not even cold.

I felt the ground shaking and I looked up to see four breathtaking vlodes, each of a different clan overshadowing me. Seeing those people, all my emotions vanished. I knew who they were.

They took my summer away. I realized there was a huge gap that parted the ground now. And I saw my summer standing on the other side, gun in hand aiming at the vlodes behind me.

I saw the anger that filled her eyes, directed at the four vlodes and the dissapontment directed towards me.
I knew she fought a battle inside.
Then the warm glint in her eyes disappeared and hardness took its place.

I realized that as the bullet pierced through my chest. The four vlodes behind me were dead, but I was still standing as blood poured out of my wound. "Why?" "It had to be done." "Don't you love me?" "Not anymore, you have had your chance to choose sides."

Then she threw her gun on the ground and walked away. That was the last thing I saw before my vision blurred, and I seemed to fall. But I never hit the ground.

Nyssa opened her eyes again, now with a much clearer vision on whose thoughts were whose. The leftovers from the summer in her dream... or not her dream still tugged at her. Who had she been? And who was the summer?

After thinking about it for a while, it struck her. Who else did she know that was like summer other than Polly? Was the person she had been Jonathan Devoe? Didn't Polly say they knew each other?

Were that Doctor Devoes thoughts, or even memories? But he wasn't dead. He was well and alive, wasn't he? She scrambled her mind for Devoe's presence and found what she was searching for. The hint of a warm summer breeze.

She wanted to push his presence away again, but it didn't seem to work all too well. His thoughts were quiter, more like a radio on low volume. Nyssa sighed. She wasn't sure how long she could endure the ongoing blabbering before going crazy.

Just then, Polly opened the door and peeked in. "Are you feeling better now, sweetie?" Polly asked, soundling slightly worried.

Nyssa gave a slight smile. "Yes, thank you," the girl answered, thankful for real. Polly had helped her now more than she could ever repay.

"And how is your mind reading going?" the woman wanted to know. "He is still thinking about you," Nyssa blurted out.

Polly twisted her lips. "Who do you mean? Dear Robert? I hope not," she said sounded kinda disgusted.

"No, not him. I think it's Jonathan," Nyssa stated as a million emotions hushed over Polly's face. Not even a second later, she already caught herself again and it almost seemed like she didn't know who Nyssa was talking about.

"May god suck his dick honestly. He has no business with me now, so why can't he grow a spine and stick to his decision?" the woman remarked bitterly.

The puzzle pieces fell into place. So Nyssa was right with her supposition. "Anyway, I thought you might want to know a little more about us vlodes," Polly suggested.

Us vlodes.

Heyyyy, uhm, how do you like the story so far? Anyway, maybe you've noticed, but I have only now decided on a name for this species. If there are any better suggestions, they are highly welcome :]

I'll see when I update. As I said, I don't really have a schedule, sorry bout that. I'm almost entirely sure that there have to be some grammar and spelling mistakes, and I would be really grateful for pointing that out :)

Any suggestions?

Okey enjoy :>
