Camp was in tatters.
The grass was dead. The trees lost their leaves. It was cloudy.
And Nico was standing admist the chaos. Will had been escorted to the Infirmary by Austin hours ago. Some genius had left Nico to his own devices.
Hazel was the only person watching. She looked at her brother in sympathy, concern and surprise at what he had done. Her knowledge of him only went so far.
This was farther. MUCH farther.
Percy was still in his cabin.
Malcolm hadn't been seen since the sky went gray and the spiders came out. All the spiders were dead. Their webs in balls of dead carcasses on the dirt paths.
It was like a Tsunami had hit camp.
Hazel creeped closer grabbing her brother's hand looking him in the eyes
"Nico. Nico. Nico I need you too look at me," Hazel said firmly.
Nico looked at her weakly.
Hazel's heart ached at the sight of brother looking so broken.
"Let's go back to Hades cabin? Okay?" She said leading him to Hades cabin gripping his hand gently.
Nico let himself be led. He met eyes with Leo who was looking out of Hephaestus cabin. He broke the stare focusing on not breaking in the middle of camp.
Leo saw the sign and looked away. Nico was glad his friend understood.
Reyna was already inside Hades cabin. Jason was there to.
Almost immediately, Both girls and Jason enveloped him in a hug worthy of a god.
"Hey Neeks..." Reyna whispered. Yet Nico wasn't listening. He was focused on the feeling of the hug. He had a very limited amount of hugs he had received.
"Aw, poor Neeks....." Reyna said. Her condolences were rare. They were only dished out to those worth it. Nico would always be at the top spot on that list.
...
...
More silence.
Then a pained yell. A screech. A scream.
More screams. The sound of creeping.
Nico tensed immediately knowing exactly what they were. He had seen them in Tartarus. He was frozen in place.
Hazel was greatly concerned at her brother's lack of response
"Nico?"
