After a while of riding with the trio, I learned quite a bit about what we'd learn and how things work around here. I tried to go to the caboose to grab my stuff but Hermione simply grabbed my wrist and told me that they'll show up in our dormitories later on in the evening. I'm not used to that.
I followed everyone else up the stairs and towards the great hall when I spotted a slightly hunched-over, older man with long white hair and a long white beard. I slowed my pace and focused on him. He signaled me over to him.
"Hello, Ms. Caddel. I am Professor Dumbledore, the Headmaster," he spoke swiftly, "Normally we wouldn't accept newcomers but I've heard good things about you. Now if you'll just follow me," he motioned.
We marched into the Great Hall, I could feel everyone's eyes piercing my skin. Dumbledore led me up to the stool on the front stage. I must have missed the first-years getting sorted. I zoned out again, staring at nothing in particular when I felt something on my head. The sudden, 'HUFFLEPUFF' scared me half to death. I almost fell off of the stool.
I looked to the far right in hopes of seeing my brother. I became annoyed when a few strands of my dirty blonde hair escaped my ponytail and went into my eyes. When I finally focused on his face, he looked angry...furious. I'd ask him later.
I walked towards the Hufflepuff table when I suddenly felt a pair of hands around my waist. Turning around, I was met with a pair of bright grey eyes and a swoosh of brown hair. I smiled; Cedric.
Walking into the Hufflepuff Commons was amazing. There were plants everywhere and the student there talked excitedly about their summers. The dorms looked even better; so homey and soft. I'm most definitely not used to that. I had finally left my boyfriend to go to my classes; potions, transfigurations, DADA, History of Magic, Care of Magical Beasts, Herbology, and Diviations. Potions had to be the hardest.
The few girls in my dorm were pretty nice. Lyra Thornton, Alice Weaver, Charity Whitlock, and Brenna Draxler. Lyra had a massive crush on my brother, Liam, which I tried to avoid the topic of. Brenna seemed quiet; making rude comments when she saw fit. Alice and Charity just kept to themselves the whole time we were unpacking and setting up our beds.
I sat on my bed, stressing over the already potions assignment. How do we get 4 pages of homework on the first day of school?! I sighed and tugged my phone out of my robe pocket, and pulled up Liam's number.
Avery C.
Hey...Any clue how to do the potions homework? Wanna help me out?
Big Broski
Uh...sure? Come down to Slytherin Dungeon, I'll have Draco open the door for you.
Avery C.
Thank youuuuu, give me like 10 minutes
Hurrying about the dorm room I tossed my uniform on my bed, threw on some casual clothes, and arranged my robe back over my shoulders. Running down the stairs with my papers all in my hands took a little while as I almost took a wrong turn finding Slytherin Dungeon.
Tiredly, I stood in front of the door awaiting this so-called 'Draco' to open the door. After a minute a so, a tall blond stood in front of me.
"Avery, is it?" he asked not looking at me yet. When I responded with a simple yes, he finally looked at me and something almost changed in his eyes.
