Whitney and I decided to attend the welcome party, eager to meet new people and make connections. As we walked to the student union, the night air buzzed with excitement.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Belinda and Savannah, our hosts for the evening. Belinda's vibrant purple hair and infectious smile immediately drew me in.
Savannah, poised and elegant, welcomed us with a warm hug. "We're so glad you could make it!"
The party was in full swing, with music pulsating and conversations flowing. Whitney and I mingled, introducing ourselves to fellow freshmen.
I met Jake, a charming business major, and Emily, a talented artist. We exchanged stories, laughter, and numbers.
As the night wore on, Whitney grabbed my arm. "Let's get some fresh air."
Outside, we stumbled upon a group playing guitar and singing. The melodies mesmerized me.
Whitney nudged me. "You should join in."
I hesitated, but Whitney's encouragement emboldened me. I borrowed a guitar and began strumming.
The music connected us, strangers-turned-friends united by a shared love of melody.
As the evening concluded, Whitney grinned. "Best. Night. Ever."
I nodded, still humming the tunes. "Definitely."
On our walk back to the dorm, Whitney turned to me. "I'm so glad we're rooming together. You're amazing."
I blushed, feeling grateful for this new friendship. "Thanks, Whitney. You're pretty awesome yourself."
As we settled into our room, I reflected on the night's events. College was already exceeding my expectations.
But little did I know, this was only the beginning.
