Septemeber 1530

The air was cold as I walked through the gardens, Henry's hand warm as he held mine. "Henry, I wanted to speak to you about something" I said, Henry nodded and said "What troubles you, sweetheart?" I took a deep breath and said "I was hoping that for christmas you would let me invite Princess Mary"

Henry's eyes met mine with surprise and said "I did not know that you wished to have her" In other words,he forgot about her, I wanted to make peace with Princess Mary, to reconile her with Henry and to bring peace that is much needed. "I hope you will let me invite her,my love" I said, hoping he would agree.

"I want Mary to be with me, so she can witness the birth of her brother." I added, Henry sighed and said "You do remember that she defied me when I wanted to seperate from Catherine-" I interuppted him by saying "yes, but from what i have heard about her is that she is such a lovely girl who deserves a steady place at court"

Henry sighed again and after thinking, he smiled and said "I allow it, I will write to the Countess of Sailsbury to tell her the news" I smiled and we continued our stroll. These days, Henry has been so loving and delightful, we dine together, he would ask me for my favor at the jousts as if i was his lady love, I really love him, he is such a delightful man.

September 17th 1530

The sky was dark, the wind was cool and hit my skin under the heavy cotton of my blanket, Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my back, I woke  up in a haze and placed my hand on my swelling belly, I knew it was time, I felt another pain and I cried in pain, Lady Frances, who was sitting on the chair next to fire was woken.

She came to me, her eyes and she said in french "Is it time?" I felt such painful contractions that I snapped "No, I am perfectally fine, I am not well! The baby is coming! get the midwives, you fool!" I was in too much pain to apologize for my rudeness, In almost seconds, the midwives were here.

I felt horrible pains, I screamed as i gripped the sheets, pushing with all my might, my face was dappled in sweat, for almost four hours I pushed and pushed, I felt my hope and strenghth falter each moment, I tossed my head back in pain, It was unbearable, I have never felt any thing like this.

As another passed, I felt a surge of determination in me, I took a deep breath and I let out a primal scream, using all of my strenght I had left in my body, and a cry pierced the room, I felt as if i could breath again, I looked up and said nearly breathless "Is it a boy? Have I given birth to Prince Edward?" The midwife, a stout and motherly woman named Alinor, looked at me and smiled sweetly as she said "It is a girl, you majesty"

I felt my joy dim a little but I knew I should be grateful that I am safe and my child is alive and well. The midwife bundled my little girl in a silk blanket and handed the girl into my arms. The moment I saw my girl's eyes, I fell in love with her, she had Henry's blue eyes, my girl had a dusting of my dark brown hair, she had beautiful rosebud lips and Henry's roman nose, she was perfect.

I did not care if Henry was upset that this child was a girl, I love my baby, the moment I met her eyes I knew i loved this girl, my princess, my Tudor Princess. I could barely look away from her tiny and round face, I was entranced. The ladies around me looked amused and touched to see me holding my girl with much affection. "May I fetch the King,Your majesty?" Jeanne asked me, I did not look away from my baby and said "Yes, Thank you"

After the ladies dressed me in a fresh nightgown and cleaned the sweat that was dappled in sweat and I was laid on my bed, waiting for Henry to see his child. When he entered, his eyes did dim a little at the sight of the baby girl, I knew he wanted and needed a son but this is a sign.He smiled at me and said "Oh my love, she is a beauty"

I chuckled and said "She is, she has your pretty eyes" I felt such a great joy that i forgot about the disapointment that settled briefly in my stomach. "What should we name her?" I asked Henry, my eyes meeting his own for the first time, I saw love and tenderness in his eyes that made my heart flutter.

"How about Isabella?" Henry said, his eyes never leaving our baby,I liked that name, for my grandmother and my sister, I nodded and said "That is perfect name,my love" We could not look away from our girl, "Princess Isabella Tudor" Henry whispered, as if he was seeing how it sounded, it sounded perfect. My little Isabella was the most beautiful child i have ever seen.

Three days later, little Isabella was taken to westminster for her christening, I could not go because i was not churched yet, but Henry and my ladies told me that it was spectacular, with the best tapestries. King Francis of France and his new wife Queen Eleanor of Austria were made godparents, the Archbishop William Warham did the honors of baptizing my girl.

The days when I was allowed back in court life were full of celebration and joy. Henry held jousts, masques, balls, banquets and much more as if the treasurey was endless like his joy and love for me. Isabella's household was made, many of my friends from girlhood were made her ladies, Isabella's residence would be at Richmond. Isabella's lady governess is Lady Elizabeth Arundell, my oldest lady in my household, she is a kind, devout and motherly woman and very educated, since she was a girl, she always was in a royal court, french, italian, spanish, she had all served and I really like and care for her.

I am gifted the finest of everything, I was reading in my chambers when Henry came in, with him was a young lad, at least fourteen and in the lad's hand was a cage, in the cage was the prettiest lap dog I have ever seen, the little thing was so tiny and very adorable. Henry walked towards me and kissed me, his tongue lingered with mine and made me stir with desire.

"Go head Tom, give the Queen her gift" Henry said as he put his arm around my waist, I looked at the puppy, it was a pretty greyhound with black big eyes that were pleading for love and affection, Henry said "You like him?" I met his gaze and I kissed him so lovingly as the grey hound walked towards me, Once in my arms, I giggled as I scratched his neck and almost immeditalty, I fell in love with this little puppy.

It was Jeanne who named the puppy, Julian, after the court jester. Henry and I would walk in the gardens together with Julian with us, I am happy, I never thought I could feel such joy and happiness. I never thought it was possible.

I never thought it was possible
