Jeremiah looked a bit surprised but quickly masked it with a cool expression, barely making eye contact. "You good?" he asked, his voice casual, but Y/n caught the edge of something else behind it.
"Yeah, I'm cool," she replied, trying to play it cool, but the tension in the air was thick. "What y'all doing here?"
"Just grabbin' some snacks and drinks," Camrin chimed in, his usual playful energy contrasting with the awkwardness that had settled between Y/n and Setty.
"Okay, cool," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "I was just... celebrating."
"Oh, word?" Camrin replied, a curious smile creeping across his face. "What's the occasion?"
"Just passed my OG/BYN exam," she said, pride slipping into her tone.
"Oh that's whats up, congrats!" Dougie, the other guy, chimed in with a genuine smile. "That's dope."
"Thanks" Y/n smiled back at him, appreciating the support. But her gaze kept drifting back to Setty, who was avoiding her eyes.
As the moment stretched out, she felt the weight of the unspoken between them. Did he really just ignore her all day? What did she do wrong? She glanced at Xavier, who was obliviously picking out snacks, then back at Jeremiah.
"Y'all have a good night," he said finally, his tone even but distant, as if he was already moving on.
"Yeah, you too," Y/n replied, her heart sinking a bit as he turned to leave with Camrin and Dougie. She watched them go, feeling the mix of emotions swirling inside her—confusion, frustration, and that nagging feeling that something was off.
Jeremiah's POV
"Yeah, you too," she said, and the way her voice trailed off hit differently.
As we stepped outside, I couldn't shake the feeling of regret. The last thing I wanted was to act like I didn't care, but here I was, standing on business while internally flipping out about a girl I barely knew.
"So, you know that girl?" Dougie asked, breaking the silence as we walked down the street.
"Just someone I met," I muttered, trying to keep it vague.
"Just someone you met?" Camrin laughed, disbelief dripping from his tone. "Come on, bro, stop frontin'. You were staring at her like she was wood in the pack!"
I shot him a glare, annoyance flaring up. "Shut up, bro."
"Nah, for real," Camrin pressed, his laughter making my frustration grow. "You're acting like you don't care, but you're looking like a whole puppy dog over there!"
