My heart breaks at Lizzie's words, Travis had never mentioned she was in a wheelchair, a tear rolls down my cheek at Lizzie's sobs, it sucks that she thinks of herself that way, no six year old should say that
"It's not ugly baby, we don't use that word, we also don't use stupid or hate" Travis says in a comforting manner
"Well it is! It's ugly and stupid" she yells "I hate it"
I can hear Lizzie's sobs as trav tries to calm her down so i decide to give them space and walk back to the living room
"Im sorry, she's having a moment, she's not up for it right now" trav says, meeting me on the couch
"It's okay, I know she's upset, please don't force her to do anything she doesn't want"
"Thank you for understanding"
"She's in a wheelchair?-" I ask "She yelled pretty loudly I heard her" I explain myself
"Yeah" he sighs
"Why hadn't you told me?"
"I never do, it changes peoples perspective of her, not that she's met anyone new in over a year, but it would change how people perceive her before they even meet her"
"Has she always been in a-"
"Wheelchair, it's not a bad word, but no, it's been 2 years"
"May I ask how it happened? It's okay if you don't want to answer-"
"Car accident, she was with her mom, she was on her way to drop her off with me after she picked her up from dance class, it's was raining really hard, someone rear ended them, they spun and the car skid, they flipped, her mom passed away, Liz was in the hospital for almost a month, surgery after surgery, but they couldn't help her walk again, she spends most days locked in her room, her therapists have to come here because she refuses to leave the house, I can't recall the last time she went outside for something that wasn't health related, sometimes she won't even let me see her"
"Who cares for her when you're away at games?"
"My mom sometimes, but she has her nanny, she's probably the nanny with the easiest job, she doesn't come out of her room much so she just comes and makes sure she eats and has her meds when I'm not home for the most part"
"It must be real hard on her, she's a kid, kids are supposed to run around and jump"
"she loved to dance, she was only 4 but she'd always tell me how she wanted to be a ballerina"

Id been nervous to go to Travis game but everyone was really nice, his family and friends had welcomed me with open arms and for once in my life I had enjoyed a football game, especially since Travis had won
But my mind also couldn't help but wander to the little girl, who had been stuck in her room since I had arrived yesterday, I felt comfortable with Travis but maybe it was time for me to go to a hotel so Lizzie could feel comfortable in her own home
"That was amazing!" I screech at Travis "that was unbelievable, oh my god" I kiss him as Travis thanks me for being here for him
"hi, it's so good to finally meet you, I'm britt, Patricks wife" Brittany introduces herself as we greet Travis and his teammates after the game
"Hi, I'm Taylor" I smile,
"It's so nice to know you're not a lie, Travis hasnt shut up about you in weeks, we were starting to believe he had made up a lie cause we hadn't met you"
