"It's born from just one single glance, but it dies, and it dies, and it dies a million little times"
— (📼) illicit affairsBREAKING POINT .ᐟ
HER BLONDE HAIR SAWYED behind her as she hurriedly walked past people leaving the paddock. After all the interviews were finished Colette was quick to whip out her phone to text Logan, she desperately needed to know what had happened after the race, and no, she didn't want to know because of the premise that it might be if she published it, instead she needed to know because she deeply cared about the driver and wanted to be there for him incase something bad had happened.
Because she had always been there for him, the memories were fresh on her mind as she recalled them, she remembered vividly the first time they met, it was the first race that she was covering solo, the anxiety was eating her whole body and she felt like throwing up at any second, she looked like a lost puppy walking around the paddock, that's when she met him, Logan, her savior, the knight in shining armor, he too was anxious that day, looking for a moment of peace, and that's when he found her, anxiously wandering around the paddock, the moment his eyes landed on her it was like the world stopped spinning and the sun started shining even more brightly than before, the wind was knocked out of his lungs and his common sense flew away with it. He felt like he was up in the sky.
"Hi, I'm Logan" he had said to her "are you lost?"
And with that simple interaction everything started, this secret, hidden, illicit affair that they had going on. A single glance was all it took for them to be completely hooked on each other, it all began with beautiful rooms and dreamy dates but all of that quickly vanished and became meetings in abandoned parking lots and hidden places, like they were some kind of criminals having clandestine meetings, but that's the thing about illicit affairs.. their highs were amazing, they felt like they were meant for each other and that there was no one in the world that could stop them, but their lows? oh, they were miserable for both of them, they both became idiotic fools, not knowing how to control this feelings that they secretly kept inside of them, it was like they had taught each other this secret language that they couldn't speak with no one else.
So the lack of response from the driver made her even more nervous, Colette knew, she just knew that this wasn't another one of their lows, no, this was something else, and she was scared for what it meant, something really wasn't alright so here she was standing in front of the Williams hospitality, the workers that passed by her looked at her weirdly, in all honesty, if Coco could she would look at herself weird too. With one last breath she looked around before sneaking inside where she made the familiar path towards the american's driver's room. She knocked three times without receiving any response so she decided to speak.
"Hey american pie.. you there?" she asked softly the nickname slipping out of her tongue like a breeze. Colette heard some shuffling inside the room before the door opened, she lifted up her gaze and the view in front of her broke her heart even more, there, just in front of her eyes stood the saddest man Coco have ever seen in her life.
"Oh baby" she whispered pushing completely open the door and going straight for the hug Logan so desperately needed. He immediately wrapped his arms around her squishing his body against hers as much as he could, he really needed it.
"I'm sorry" Coco looked up at him confused, her hand unconsciously reaching up to fix his hair. "what are you apologizing for?"
"everything, i'm not good enough for anything" he responded sadly leaning into her hand that stopped at his cheek. "i suck at the one thing i was supposed to be good at, so many people sacrificed so much for me and i'm still shit!"
Colette winced at his sudden raised voice. "Fuck, i'm sorry Coco" he apologized again seeing her reaction. "I- I didn't mean to shout and now.. fuck"
That little interaction seemed to have pushed him over the edge because he broke off from Colette's soft touch and started pacing around the small area that conformed his room, his whole body was shaking and he passed his hands trough his hair over and over again.
"I ruin everything Coco" Logan whispered barely audible and if Colette hadn't been so focused on him she wouldn't have heard it.
"That's not true.. and you know that Logan" Colette said confidently trying to get close to him again only to see Logan stepping further away from her. "don't you go all depressive on me Logan"
"you are an amazing person, sure! all of this?" she gestured around them. "might not be going as you planned to but that doesn't mean you are less of an amazing person! plus you can still prove yourself, don't give up just yet!"
"don't lie to me Coco, you, me, everyone knows that I don't have shit to prove! i'm done" Logan looked at her with disapproving eyes. "you are a journalist for goodness sake! you of all people can't tell me that i have a chance still" he made air quotes with his hands. "cause news flash Colette! i don't!"
Coco just stood there with her mouth open in shock, this was not the Logan she knew, this man in front of her was rude, cold and detached, the Logan she knew and cared so much about was sweet, caring and gentle, she didn't like this Logan, she liked her Logan better.
"and we both know that this" he said gesturing around them. "was the fucking last opportunity that i had to prove them wrong, and i screwed it up so don't come in here to lie to me"
"Logan, I really don't think that you-" she started but before she could finish her sentence he cut her off.
"You know what Colette i couldn't care less about what you think right now, all this time you had been feeding me lies about how I could still prove them wrong, and what's worse is that I believed you, I'm such an idiot"
"so could you please just leave?" he finished gesturing towards the half closed door that led to the hallway.
She processed his words for a while before turning around and leaving the small room with a slam of the door. As soon as she heard the door slamming shut she let the tears she had been holding fall down her face blurring her vision rapidly, she hurried out of the building without looking back, was this it? was this the end? illicit affairs truly die a million little times, but is this the final blow? this for sure looks like THE BREAKING POINT
