"I'm so glad you could come out here man." Devale said dapping me up.
"Of course, happy birthday." I say returning the dap.
He pulled me into a quick hug and I patted his back. It's been six years since I last saw Devale. We went to college together, played football together, roomed together at one point. When I graduated from Hofstra, I used my Cybersecurity degree and got a job with the FBI.
Devale and I reunited over IG about a year ago. We've been talking ever since. So, I was happy when I got a DM from his wife, Khadeen, for an invite to come out to Jamaica for his birthday. I figured I could use the vacation, plus I love birthdays.
"It is nice here," I say shaking my head. "I'm so tired of that cold ass weather." I tell Devale.
"Yeah man you need to leave Canada some time." He suggested.
"I know, I need more vacations."
"You still with the FBI?" He asked me.
I shake my head, "Nah man I'm actually heading into early retirement." I tell him.
"For real?"
"Yeah I'll be done working before the summer is over with." I tell him.
"How you feeling?" Devale asked grabbing me a drink.
"I feel good man, I'm ready to spend some more time with my daughter, maybe get a girl--"
Devale tapped my shoulder, "You should settle down bro. It's time." He says making me laugh.
"Bro why you say that?" I ask him.
"Cause love is amazing. My wife put this together for me and I love her. I tell all my single friends, to settle down. It's so peaceful." He says shaking his head.
"I was settled at one point and it was not peaceful." I tell Devale.
He laughed, "What you mean?" He asked.
"Devale that was the craziest woman I ever dealt with. My daughter's mom, not even that crazy.. But the last girl-- Jesus!" I say taking a sip of my drink.
"Alright well look we in Jamaica, you might find a lil sum to take home with you." Devale said. "But let me show you to your room," He said walking ahead of me as I followed him.
After Devale showed me my room, I got in the shower and washed my long flight off of me. When I got out, I put my swim trunks on and went to join everybody out at the pool. When I got out there, the sun was extra bright so my eyes had to get adjusted; but when they did, I saw the most beautiful, sexiest, woman I've ever seen. The way she was getting out the water, made her look like some type of goddess.
I noticed her getting closer and closer to me. I kind of froze until I heard her voice.
