A few months had passed, and things had started falling into place for Naima and Karthik. Karthik had finally graduated from college with flying colours and had landed a job through his campus interviews.
The stress of fees and financial struggles had melted away, leaving Naima proud and relieved. With her brother secure, she was able to throw herself into what she loved most—cricket.
It had been a whirlwind few months for Naima and the boys. They had just wrapped up a victorious Asia Cup campaign, again standing tall as champions.
The celebrations were still fresh in their minds, along with Shubman's 24th birthday, which they had celebrated just a few weeks ago.
But the excitement wasn't over yet—Naima's birthday was coming up in three days, and the boys were already scheming.
"Oi, Naima! You look like you're about to collapse," KL Rahul shouted across the field, grinning as he watched Naima sprint down the pitch during their morning drills.
Sweat glistened on her forehead, but she didn't slow down.
"Shut it, KL!" Naima barked back between breaths, determined to finish her run. "You'll have to drag my dead body off this field before I quit!"
Shubman chuckled from the sidelines, watching her push herself to the limit, as usual. "She's got more stamina than you, KL! Stop talking shit and run your laps."
KL held up his hands in mock surrender. "Fine, fine! Just don't pass out before your birthday, Naima. We still need to throw you a proper party."
Naima rolled her eyes, finally slowing to a jog. "You lot partied hard enough at Shubman's birthday. You'd think I'd get some peace."
Ishan, always full of energy, sprinted over and threw an arm around Naima's shoulders.
"Peace? Who needs peace when you've got us?" He winked, making her laugh.
"Yeah, peace is overrated," Virat added, walking over with Hardik and Shreyas. "Besides, we've already got big plans for your birthday. Better be ready for total chaos."
"Do I ever have a choice when it comes to you idiots?" Naima shot back, wiping the sweat from her brow.
Ishan squeezed her tighter. "Nope! You're stuck with us, sweetheart. Now come on, let's mess with Shubman. It's too quiet around here."
