Jeonghan stared at the message on his screen, frozen in disbelief.
Daddu💗: Not when it comes to someone worth chasing. Especially you.
His mind raced, heart pounding in his chest. Was this really happening? Choi Seungcheol, the enigmatic CEO of Noirette, the very man he had spent countless hours stalking on Instagram—flirting with him? The realization struck him like a tidal wave, pulling him under.
This can’t be real. It has to be a joke.
Before he could rein in his impulsiveness, his fingers moved on autopilot, typing out a response he wasn’t ready for.
Jeonghan: How about tomorrow?
As soon as he hit send, dread washed over him. What was I thinking? He threw his phone onto the couch as if it were a live grenade, his breath hitching in his throat. The weight of his decision crashed down around him. Tomorrow? I can't meet him. What if I embarrass myself? What if he realizes I’m a stupid fan who's obsessed with him?
He started pacing the room, every step echoing the panic swelling inside him. What if he’s expecting someone charismatic and angelic? Someone who isn’t me?
Just then, his phone buzzed, making him jump. With trembling hands, he picked it up, heart racing as he read the notification.
Daddu💗: Tomorrow works. I'm free
“Oh no, no, no,” he muttered, pacing faster. What did I just agree to?
He powered off his phone, desperate to escape the chaos swirling in his mind. I need a way out. This is too much.
Without a second thought, Jeonghan switched his phone back on and dialed Joshua's number, anxiety coursing through him as he waited for the call to connect.
It rang once, twice, then—
“Hannie? What's going on?” Joshua's voice was calm, a soothing balm against the storm inside him.
“Joshuji, I'm losing my mind!” Jeonghan nearly shouted, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks. This is embarrassing. What will he think of me?
“Okay, slow down. What’s happening? Why are you freaking out?” Joshua’s tone shifted to concern, grounding Jeonghan for just a moment.
“I just agreed to go on a date,” he blurted, flopping down onto the couch, heart racing like it was trying to escape.
Joshua fell silent, the weight of the revelation hanging heavily in the air. “Wait, you? You, Jeonghan, the guy who runs from any kind of real feelings, agreed to a date?”
“Don’t sound so surprised!” Jeonghan groaned, feeling frustration and embarrassment crash together in a messy collision. “It’s... it’s him. Seungcheol.”
