i was lying on zayn's chest, the sound of his heartbeat soothing me as we lounged on his couch, the remnants of popcorn scattered across the floor from our movie marathon. my head was resting comfortably against him, and it felt like the perfect moment—until he casually asked, "so, when are we going on an official date?"

my heart skipped a beat. i looked up at him, trying to read his expression, but all i could see was that playful glint in his eyes. "are you asking me out? or just testing your own courage?" i shot back, trying to sound flippant but feeling the heat rise to my cheeks.

"i'm totally asking you out. but if you want me to get down on one knee, i can do that, too," he smirked, his voice dripping with that unmistakable zayn charm.

"as tempting as that sounds, let's keep it simple for now. dinner and drinks first, maybe an awkward silence or two," i replied, matching his sarcasm. "don't want to scare you off with commitment on the first date."

"commitment? please," he scoffed, his eyes sparkling. "you'd be lucky to get rid of me after tonight. and by the way, i hope you're ready to drink because this date is going to be wild."

"wild, huh? is that a promise or a threat?" i teased, unable to hide my smile.

"both," he shot back, leaning down to give me a quick peck on the forehead, sending shivers down my spine.

after a few minutes of banter, we finally got up to get ready. the anticipation of our first official date buzzed in the air. i tossed on a form-fitting white dress that made me feel confident and sexy. i admired my reflection, and before i could second-guess myself, i slipped on my favorite pair of heels and headed into the living room.

zayn was waiting, and my breath caught in my throat. he looked incredible, wearing a fitted black shirt that hugged his frame perfectly. "well, look who finally decided to join the party," he said with a grin, his eyes roving over me. "i might have to start charging a cover fee for this view."

"i'd pay it. just to see you try and flirt with the bouncer," i replied, crossing my arms, trying to maintain some semblance of composure.

he stepped closer, invading my personal space. "trust me, i'd get in just by saying your name. everyone wants to know who you are." he leaned in, his breath tickling my ear as he added, "and if they see me with you, they'll probably throw me a parade."

"let's not get ahead of ourselves," i laughed, pushing him away playfully. "i don't want to be responsible for your inflated ego."

"too late for that. it's already at a solid ten," he replied with a wink.

after a few more flirty exchanges, we made our way to the restaurant, where we indulged in delicious food and, of course, more flirting. zayn's humor was sharp, his jokes often laced with a level of innuendo that made my cheeks heat up. at one point, he leaned over the table, his voice low, saying, "if this is how we start the night, just wait until we get to the bar. i might need to keep an eye on you."

"oh, is that how it's going to be? you keeping an eye on me, or me keeping an eye on you?" i quipped, unable to help but be swept up in the moment.

"let's just say it's a mutual agreement," he replied with a smirk, his gaze lingering on my lips for just a moment too long.

after dinner, we headed to a nearby bar, where the atmosphere was lively and the music was loud. we ordered drinks, and zayn insisted on getting a round of shots. "this is to celebrate our first official date," he announced, raising his glass with a grin.

"and to get me drunk enough to say yes to a second," i added, clinking my glass against his.

as the drinks flowed, so did the laughter, and soon enough, we were both feeling the effects of the alcohol. i leaned into him, feeling bold and carefree, when i noticed a girl across the bar. she was flirting with zayn, batting her eyelashes and laughing a little too loudly. jealousy bubbled up in my chest, and i couldn't help but roll my eyes.

"nice dress," i mumbled, loud enough for zayn to hear but not so loud that it drew attention. i took a sip of my drink, my gaze still fixed on the girl.

zayn chuckled, oblivious to my irritation. "isobella eulália silva, are you jealous? she's just being friendly."

"friendly? more like overly friendly," i shot back, raising an eyebrow. "does she think she's auditioning for a part in your life?"

"belle baby, come on. it's just harmless flirting," he said, waving his hand dismissively.

"harmless, huh? looks like she's taking her audition very seriously," i muttered, my voice dripping with passive-aggressiveness.

the girl must have overheard me because she turned and shot me a smirk. "you must be his girl," she said, feigning sweetness. "how cute! but you know, he can do better."

before i could respond, zayn stood up, his expression turning serious. "actually, she's everything i want and more. don't mistake her kindness for weakness," he said firmly, his voice cutting through the noise of the bar.

i felt a thrill of warmth at his words, but the jealousy still simmered beneath the surface. the girl scoffed, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "whatever you say, zayn. but we all know how easy it is to get bored."

"unlike you, belle isn't just a pretty face. she has a personality, and she's smart," he replied, his gaze unwavering. "you really should try it sometime."

"i'll keep that in mind," she said, rolling her eyes before turning away, clearly annoyed.

zayn sat back down next to me, and i could see the fire in his eyes, the protectiveness he had over me. "you okay?" he asked, his tone softening.

"i'm fine," i replied, taking a deep breath to compose myself. "i just don't get what makes her think she can just waltz in and act like she's the queen of the bar. like, excuse me, but you don't see me trying to steal your spotlight."

"you don't need to compete with her. you're way better," he said, his voice low and sincere.

"yeah, well, it's hard to remember that when she's all over you like that," i admitted, taking another sip of my drink.

"you don't need to worry about her. it's you i'm here with," he insisted, leaning in closer. "she's just a distraction."

"a distraction? that's generous," i quipped, raising an eyebrow. "i'd call her a nuisance."

"whatever you want to call her, it doesn't change the fact that you're the one i want to be with," he said, locking eyes with me.

for a moment, the tension shifted. the jealousy began to dissipate, replaced by the warmth of zayn's presence.

"so, are we going to spend the rest of the night focusing on her, or are we going to enjoy our first date?" he asked, his tone flirty again.

"good question. maybe we should toast to ignoring distractions," i replied, my mood lightening.

"i like that idea," he grinned, raising his glass once more.

"to us," i said, clinking my glass against his.

"to us," he echoed, and as we drank, the night seemed to glow with possibility.
