Chapter 1

Mensa Casting POV

After discovering that Serai (Sir-eye) was lying to me I immediately froze. All these thoughts were running through my head.

" So since all of middle, and high school she was lying to me?"

" Did something make her this way"

"How did she get so good at lying"

" Was she pretending to be my friend?"

"Did she have a sister?"

"Does she live in this city"

"Is her name actually Serai Pray"

" Does she go to the pottery classes she claimed to go every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday?"

Okay that one was stupid but really?

I could barely process what was happening. " Mensa, Mensa!" someone shouted waking me up from my thoughts.

"Huh? Oh mom! Yeah what did you want?" I asked my mom. My mom was one of those mom's that enjoyed taking lots and lots of unnecessary pictures. That's why she had to buy an Ipad and Ipod just for pictures.

"Mensa go get Serai and all you friends for some pictures." she said with her Ipad out. 

"Okay" I said. I walked over to Serai first. She had her back to me and was talking to her parents. "Umm...Serai. You know how my mom is and she wanted to take pictures of us, and then our whole group of friends, and then our teachers so will you come so my mom can take unnecessary pictures?' i asked her just rambling away like a fool.

"Mensa, Just calmed down. Of Course I'll come with you. Just give me a moment." She said and turned back around to talk with her parents.

I walked around to all my friends asking them if they would come to take some- no a lot of pictures.

Everyone gathered around the stage to take pictures. After we were finished I walked toward Serai to talk to her about her secret. I was about to say something when she beat me to it,

" Mensa I have to go. We can talk la- next time we meet. Just remember, I did this to protect you. I have to go now. Bye!" She said then ran away to then parking lot.

" Wait Serai, what do you mean 'when we meet again?' How were you protecting me. Why were you protecting me?" I shouted but she was long gone to answer my questions.

I turned back around so I could go home but bumped into someone. I looked up and the first thing I saw were his blue eyes.

"Oh sorry I didn't see you there."

I analyzed him, well not analyzed but you know what I mean. He was wearing a black tux, his hair was gelled up and all in all he was the definition of hot.

"Hello excuse me HELLO"

I looked up realizing he was trying to get my attention. "Uhh no problem. Are you here for your brother or sister?"

He looked me up and down then smiled.

" You're Mensa Casting aren't you. I'm Alex Pr- I mean Blackwood, Nice to meet you. I've seen you're performances of you opening for Daya. "

I was surprised. Very few people outside of the school knew that. I meant Daya when I was working at the library and I was singing for some kids. She told me that her opening act got sick and asked me to open for some of her performances.

"I-I yeah, thank you." I looked over his shoulder standing on my tiptoes. My mom waved to me to take some more pictures with my family. " I got to go. Um see you around town?"

He nodded at me the pulled out a piece of paper and wrote something down. "Call or text me sometime" he said then walked away.

I started down at the paper. He had given me his number. I stumbled back then quickly turned around to see where he went. He has disappeared into thin air.

I was shaken back into reality when my mom started screaming in my ear. "Mensa Mensa come on! All your brothers are here."

My brothers were here? When did they get here?

I had 5 brothers, all older than me. There was Payton who was 24, he ran a software business. Then there was Jake and Josh who were 22 and twins. They just graduated from college. Then there was Braydon who was 21 and was traveling around the world with his best friends Michel and Jason, and then there was Damon who's 19 and is in the military. The last time I saw Braydon was 3 years ago when he left for the trip and he never returned home. We lost connection with him. Damon was still in training so he would come home occasionally.

I'm the only girl in the family. I was adopted by the Casting family when I was 12. I don't know what happened to my family, I haven't seen them since I was 12. I was found wandering around New York. When I first arrived at the Casting household everyone was welcoming to me. As time went on I developed a special bond with everyone. I was daddy's little girl and my moms shopping parter even though I hated it. With every one of my brothers we all had something we would only do with each other. Payton would teach me how to sing and play the guitar, Josh would teach me how to skateboard, Jake and I were the pranksters of the family, and Damon and I...well let's just say he didn't like me and wished I had never been adopted.

Now Braydon, Braydon was my number one best friend. I told him everything and he told me everything. He was the other half of me and everyone knew that. When he said he was leaving I couldn't believe it. I burst into tears and ran into my room. My best friend was leaving me and I didn't know when he would come back. When he left I didn't eat for a while and locked myself in my room. Eventually when my brothers came home to visit they made me clean up and cheered me up. Around my neck I wore a necklace Braydon gave me when I first came here. It was a gold necklace and said forever on it.

When I went over to where my family was I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Because Braydon Carter Castings was standing right in front of me.

Yeah yeah I know I should've put this up a long time ago. Sorry I was super busy but now the summers here and I got everything sorted out I CAN FINALLY UPDATE

Sorry I'm kinda high up on candy...blame my best friend for giving it to me.

So anyways...how'd u guys like the first chapter?? I've got big plans for this book. Like I was just sitting in the pool (yes sitting I went there by myself and had nothing to do so I just sat in the water. I mean why do people even go there it's only fun if u go with a friend) and I was like I should really update this and then this HUGE idea came to me and I was like, I have to update this. So here I am ;)
