Calista, adopted daughter of the chief and tsahik of the Metkayina tribe, dives into the waters of her tribe and swims towards her ilu, Lulu. Calista calls for Lulu and as if on cue, Lulu came up to her in a heartbeat.
"Hey, Lulu. You ready for a swim?" She asks as Lulu makes an excited sound. Calista smiles and swings her leg over to Lulu's other side. After a few laps, she heard the horn be blowed and rushed over towards an open space in the village. She see's from afar that all her people were gathering around as she saw shadows of 4 creatures above her. She reached land and slid off of her ilu and swam the rest of the way to shore.
The creatures from above came down as the crowd began to grow bigger. She made her way through the people and settled by her sister, Tsireya, and her older brother, Ao'nung. Ao'nung was making fun of the newcomers as Tsireya slapped his hand away to tell him to stop. Our parents made their way through the crowd and looked at each of the newcomers, confused.
They were, I'm assuming, a family of five. Their skin was darker and they had thinner tails than our people. They wore loincloths and elements of the forest, which made me assume they were forest people. Omaticayans. They're not at all what I had imagined them to look like, they look intriguing. Especially one of the boys standing in front of me.
I look him up and down as if he were a strange little creature. I giggle as Tsireya jokes and whispers about how she likes the shorter looking boy. Tsireya and I look over at them to find them staring at us. The oldest looking one eyeing me down as my face flushes a light shade of pink. My face burns and my heart skips a beat.
What is this feeling?..
"Hey." The younger looking boy says to Tsireya, who in return smiles at him.
The older boy looked over at the younger boy before turning back to me.
"I am Neteyam." Neteyam says awaiting my response.I smile before responding, "I am Calista."
Tsireya smiles and bumps me slightly.
"Looks like someone fancy's the forest boy." Ao'nung says while rolling his eyes. His friend, Roxto, laughed as I scoffed and turned my head when I heard mother talking about the newcomers."These children..Are not even true Na'vi! They have demon blood!" My mother says as she raises one of the girl's arms. After a while I just ignored my mother, but this was crossing the line. They were new, and it is not like we haven't heard of Toruk Makto, who came from the stars. Which would mean he is also not a true Na'vi.
Tsireya and I look at each other, knowing how our mother could be extremely dramatic. I turn to look at Neteyam, who was now glaring at my mother. I try distracting him by asking him a few questions.
"So, Neteyam, what brings you to our island?" I ask as his gaze softens.
"We seek Uturu." He said softly while his brother and Tsireya kept eyeing each other.
"Ah, you are here because-" I begin before being rudely interrupted.
"Calista, do not be stupid. They are not welcomed here and mother-"Ao'nung began speaking before our father announced that the newcomers would be staying. My heart skipped a beat when my father introduced me and my siblings to them. I decided to help Neteyam and his younger sister, Tuktirey, with their bags while my siblings helped the others.
Tuk was looking around and bouncing on our bridge, she seemed excited and amazed. "She's adorable.." I whispered over to Neteyam, who was walking behind me.
"I know she is." Neteyam said as a slight smile appeared on his face.— THAT IS THAT FOR THIS CHAPTER! IF YOU READ THIS FAR I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS AND KNOW THAT I WILL BE UPDATING THIS WHEN I CAN! I AM IN SCHOOL AND MIGHT NOT UPDATE THIS STORY IN A FEW DAYS!
