I was leaning against the side of my car, arms crossed as I watched Sianni's door, waiting. Patience was a skill I mastered early in life, but with her, I felt it slip every time. The moment I heard about her little date the other day, I felt a pang in my chest but it wasn't jealousy—not entirely. I didn't do jealousy. But the idea of someone else touching her? No. That was something I couldn't allow.
The door swung open, and there she was—Sianni, the same woman who'd occupied space on my mind, rent free since the day we met.
I waited until she was inside before I knocked. Heavy. Deliberate. My fist connected with the door hard enough that I knew she'd feel my presence before she even answered. When the door swung open, her eyes met mine, almost making me forget the real reason I was outside her house.
"Alex, why are you at my door?" She folded her arms, her tone a mix of amusement and irritation.
Cute.
I stepped inside not bothering waiting for an invitation, closing the door behind me with a soft click. She hadn't said anything else but I felt her eyes on me the entire time. "I heard you went on a date."
Her eyebrow shot up, and she let out a small laugh. "And? You stalking me now?"
I took a step closer, closing the distance just enough to make her sweat. "Let's just say I have eyes everywhere."
She didn't need to know that I had a few people keeping an eye on her.
My voice dropped lower, almost a growl as I said, "Let me just say, the treatment you received the other day, was only a snippet of what I could really do to you."
Her cheeks flushed accompanied by a quick flicker of surprise that disappeared just as fast as it came. But I saw it. And I felt that small thrill, knowing I'd unsettled her.
"An issue?" she echoed, disbelief lacing her voice. "Alex, you can't be serious."
"Oh, I'm dead serious." I took another step closer, enough that the air between us buzzed with tension. "You're mine & only mine."
She scoffed, shaking her head like my words were so outlandish. "You're insane. And hard-headed. You can't take no for an answer, can you?"
I smiled, but there was no humor behind it— "No, I can't. Not when it comes to you."
The way she stared up at me, with that look of annoyance. I could tell she hated how much she liked this, hated the way her body reacted even if her words insisted otherwise.
She backed up, sinking onto the couch her arms still crossed like they belonged there. "You really think you can just show up to my house and tell me who I can and can't see? Girl please, last I checked, I wasn't your girlfriend."
"Not yet," I said, my voice steady. "But you're not anyone else's either. And that's how it's going to stay."
Sianni crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing as she looked at me with amusement that transformed into frustration. "You don't even know me, Alex."
