She knew that she wasn't supposed to be there.
And he knew that he wasn't supposed to drink.
However, as she entered the house and he was already inside reaching for the cup before him the promises which they had made to people in their lives were easily forgotten
"Skye, I didn't know you'd be here." she heard her close friend Daisy say to her as she waved her over.
"I thought you had a date with Luke."
"Something came up for him," she replied solemnly
"Don't let it get you down. You're here now and that's all that matters. Let's have some fun while we're both here," Daisy said winking at her playfully. Skye nodded and smiled at her friend before she was led to a table of drinks and cups.
She picked up a plastic cup and watched as Daisy poured some cola into it. Since she trusted her friend who knew that she didn't drink, she didn't say anything and drank it.
Loud music surrounded them as they walked from the table towards the sound, reaching a large room where a large crowd was dancing. She laughed to herself as she watched some of them acting foolishly.
"Let's dance," Daisy said suddenly grabbing onto her arm again and pulling her. Skye giggled and allowed herself to be dragged. Once they reached a spot that her friend deemed appropriate, they began to move to the beat.
On the other side of the room, having already forgotten the promise he had made to his coach Dash chugged a bottle of beer as people cheered around him and his best friend Trey.
"Chug!
Chug!
Chug!"
They continuously reached for new bottles as they finished their previous ones, both intending to push the other to the point where they couldn't even stand any longer. However, even though Dash was close to winning, he was the first to lose his footing and almost fall onto the floor when someone grabbed him.
"Looks like we have a winner!" he heard someone shout.
"I'll get you next time," he told his friend who only laughed.
"Let's get you somewhere to sit."
Trey wrapped one of Dash's arms around his neck and supported him as they walked up a flight of stairs. They passed several rooms with closed doors until they reached one with the door opened, meaning that it was not occupied.
Dash fell onto the bed and closed his eyes, finally feeling less dizzy.
"I'll come back in a while," he heard Trey say before he left the room.
Meanwhile on the dance floor, after dancing for thirty minutes straight with energy which she didn't know she had, Skye stopped as she felt a splitting headache most likely from the music.
"Are you okay?" Daisy asked, still moving to the beat.
"Yeah, I just have a headache. I think it's the music so I'll go somewhere quiet for a while," she told her friend.
"Go upstairs, it should be quiet there." She nodded and did as she was told, walking towards a flight of stairs and into a quiet hallway. Almost immediately, she felt her head begin to feel a little better.
Not wanting to stand in the hallway awkwardly, she walked towards an open door at the end of the hallway and into a dark room. From the dim light of the moon shining through the window, she spotted an empty bed and walked over to it. She sat down initially and finally decided to lay down and close her eyes.
There was no point in sitting there doing nothing, she thought.
She rolled over and froze when her body bumped into another. She turned her head slightly and almost screamed when she was who it was.
Upon feeling her touch, his sleep was stolen from him, causing him to open his eyes to look at who it was.
"When did you get in here?" he asked her confused.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know someone was already here," she replied. She sat up, about to leave, but he held onto her arm.
"You don't need to leave, nothing is going to happen."
Against her better judgment, she nodded and went back to laying on the bed, turning away from him. Upon seeing her relax slightly, he went back to sleeping.
As she moved slightly after a few minutes of trying to fall asleep, her eyes slowly opened and the first thing she saw was a pair of eyelids. The eyelids lifted to reveal a pair of blue eyes and a smile on the face of their owner. She smiled too as she continued to look at him.
They didn't say anything for a few moments and only continued to look at each other, a comfortable silence surrounding them as they lay on the bed, as she noticed that his arms were wrapped around her as one of hers was on his torso.
She didn't know what to do when he suddenly started to lean towards her. Although in the back of her mind she knew that it would be wrong for her to kiss him while she was still dating her boyfriend, she couldn't find it in herself to pull aways.
She remained glued to her spot as he got closer and closer.
Until finally, his lips touched hers.
And the rest was history.
