Seeking Help
The next day dawned, but the darkness that had settled over
Jadon and I lives lingered, heavy and suffocating. I stood by the window in the kitchen, my hand gripping the mug of tea so tightly my knuckles turned white. Outside, the sky was bright, but the beauty of the day did nothing to ease my growing anxiety.I hadn't told Jayla or Baby J about the latest message. How could I ? How could I explain to their innocent, wide-eyed children that someone was watching them, waiting for the right moment to strike?
Jadon sat across from me , hunched over his phone, texting furiously with David Wright. He had hardly said a word all morning, his frustration simmering just beneath the surface.
"Any news?" I asked quietly, hoping against hope that David had uncovered something—anything—that would lead them to the stalker.
Jadon looked up, his expression grim. "David's still working on it. He's running background checks on the people we listed, but nothing's come up yet. He's also tracing that phone number, but whoever it is, they're smart. They're using disposable phones, masking their location."
I sank into the chair beside him, rubbing my temples. "I feel like we're trapped, Jadon. Like we're just waiting for something worse to happen."
Jadon reached out, covering my hand with his. "I know. But we can't let them win. We need to stay strong, for us, for the kids."
I nodded, but the weight of the situation was wearing me down. The wedding was just weeks away, but instead of excitement, all I felt was fear.

**That Afternoon**
David arrived at their home, his demeanor more serious than the last time. He carried a file with him, thicker than before, filled with the latest reports from his investigation.
"We've made some progress," David began as he sat down with Jadon and I . His eyes flicked toward Jayla and Baby J playing in the next room. "But I have to warn you, what we've found so far isn't conclusive."
Jadon leaned forward, tension etched in every line of his body. "Tell us what you've got."
David opened the file and laid out a series of photos—images of people connected to both Jadon and I past. Some of the faces were familiar, others not.
"We've been tracking possible suspects based on your past interactions," David said, pointing to one of the photos. "This man, **Greg**, was a business partner of yours, Jadon. He was upset when you pulled out of a deal a few years ago, lost a lot of money. He's been off the grid since then, but we tracked some unusual activity on his accounts recently."
Jadon's brows furrowed. "Greg? He wasn't happy about that deal, but he wouldn't... I don't think he'd go this far."
I shifted uncomfortably. "What about on my side? Anyone there?"
David flipped through a few more pages, pulling out a photo of a woman y/n vaguely recognized—**Sarah**, a former friend from her university days. "This woman had a falling out with you a few years back, right after you got together with Jadon. She was a bit obsessed with your relationship, from what we've found online. There's some social media chatter from accounts connected to her, all with comments about you and your family."
My heart sank. Sarah had been a close friend once, but their friendship had ended abruptly after a series of jealous outbursts. It had been years since i had heard from her, but could Sarah have held a grudge all this time?
"Do you think it's her?" I asked,my voice barely above a whisper.
David shook his head. "It's possible, but we don't have enough to confirm anything yet. We're still looking into her recent activities, and we'll be conducting interviews with people close to her."
Jadon exhaled sharply, frustration boiling over. "So, what? We just wait for this person to make their next move? This can't go on. Not with the wedding coming up, not with the kids in the house."
"I understand your frustration, Mr. Sancho," David said, his voice steady. "We're doing everything we can to speed up the process. But I need more time to narrow this down. Whoever this is, they're careful. They know how to cover their tracks."
I felt like the walls were closing in. It was one thing to know someone was watching us , but it was another entirely to feel helpless, trapped by invisible threats.
David packed up his file and stood. "I'll keep you updated. In the meantime, I've increased security around your home. There will be someone here 24/7, and I've installed additional cameras around the property."
I stood as well, following David to the door. "Thank you, David. Just... please find them. Before anything worse happens."
David nodded, his eyes serious. "We will."

**That Night**
After David left, the house felt eerily quiet. Jayla and Baby J were in bed, and me and Jadon sat in the living room, the TV playing softly in the background, though neither of us was really watching. The atmosphere between them was tense, the weight of their fear pressing down hard.
Jadon broke the silence first, his voice rough. "We can't keep living like this, y/n. I'm trying to stay calm, but this is getting out of hand."
I looked at him, my own frustration bubbling to the surface. "You think I don't know that? I'm scared too, Jadon! Every time I look at Jayla or Baby J, I wonder if they're safe. If we're doing enough to protect them."
Jadon clenched his jaw, rubbing the back of his neck. "We're doing everything we can. We've got security, we've got David, and we're being careful. But I feel like I'm failing you, y/n. Like I'm not doing enough."
My heart ached at his words. I reached over, taking his hand. "You're not failing, Jadon. You're protecting us the best way you know how. But we have to trust that David will find this person. We can't let this tear us apart."
Jadon's eyes softened as he looked at me , and he nodded, squeezing my hand. "I just want you and the kids to be safe. That's all that matters to me."
"We will be," I whispered, though i wasn't sure if i believed it. "We just have to hold on a little longer."
