We had a week long break from school coming up, and one of Taylor's friends invited the two of us to come over for a party. I hadn't been to many parties, and Taylor told me there were going to be some cute boys there, so I was excited to go, especially in my new clothes.
I get dressed, pulling on leggings and a nice red sweater that goes down to my mid thighs. I go into Taylor's room, where she had on jeans and a black crop top. She helps me do my makeup. Nothing too crazy, just some mascara and eyeliner. I look in her mirror, feeling really pretty.
"I really hope Matt is there." She tells me.
"Is he the boy you like?" I ask her.
"Yeah. He's so cute, and he's on the football team."
We finish getting ready and go outside for one of her friends with a car to pick us up. We arrive at the house. There's maybe 15-20 people there, listening to loud music and talking to one another. I still feel out of place, listening to conversations of people I don't know, stories from times I wasn't there for, but it was fun listening to them share stories and laugh.
Taylor had found Matt and was hanging out with him a lot, leaving me to talk with other people. I was still pretty shy, so I just sat and drank my soda, listening to them talking. I was approached by a boy named Aaron. He was very kind to me, and was good looking too. He had dark hair, in pretty good shape.
"So Vietnam huh? How is it there?" He asked me.
"Vietnam is nice. Beautiful country." I answer.
"What do you like more? Vietnam or America?"
"I like America, but Vietnam my home."
"I can understand that! I should visit Vietnam someday. Is the food there good?"
"Best food ever. I wish there was more here."
"Like pho and stuff?"
"Pho and many other things."
Our conversation is cut short when a girl named Brittany comes up to us. "Lily! Try this!" She hands me a cup.
I look into the cup. The liquid is clear and just looks like water. I take a sip, feeling the liquid burn my throat as I cough. "Ugh! What is this?"
"It's vodka! Alcohol!"
"Oh no." I had the cup back to her. "I too young to drink."
"Well yeah! We're all too young to drink! But it's a party! Live a little!" She walks away, not taking the cup back.
Aaron smiles at me. "Oh yeah, now it's a party." He takes a sip from his own cup.
I figure since I'm stuck with it now, I might as well keep drinking. The burning sensation is unpleasant, but washing it down with my Coke helped. I started to feel warm.
I find Taylor, who was outside talking to Matt. She sees me and waves me down. "Lily! Come over here!" I walk over and sit with her. "Did you see Brittany brought vodka? I've had soooo much already!" She said, her voice kind of slurred.
"I drink too. I don't like very much." I tell her.
"Oh come on! Drinking's fun! How much do you have left?" She looks in my cup. "Well don't waste it, drink the rest of it!"
"No no, you can have." I try handing her the cup but she refuses.
"Come on! Chug it!" She starts chanting me on, as well as Matt and another friend.
I didn't want to stand out by not drinking. So I knock back the rest of the alcohol, feeling my body feel more warm as I finish it. I cough and sip on my coke. Even though I didn't like the taste, I started to feel different as the alcohol started to take effect. I wobbled when I walked, I felt more encouraged to dance with everyone to the music playing.
The alcohol must've given Aaron more encouragement too because he started dancing with me. I smiled as we danced together, feeling his hands placed on my hips. I look over seeing Taylor also dancing with Matt. They were even kissing. I look back up at Aaron. Part of me wanted to kiss him too, but I've only talked to him a few times and didn't want to rush it.
A little bit of time passes, and Taylor finds me again talking to Aaron. "Hey Lily. Dad's here to pick us up."
"Oh, okay. Goodbye Aaron." I say.
"It was good seeing you!" He puts his arms around me to give me a hug. "We'll have to hang out sometime! Can I get your number?"
"I don't have a phone." I tell him. "But I will see you in school, okay?"
He smiles. "Sure thing. Be safe!"
Taylor says her goodbyes to Matt, giving him another kiss as he hugs her, tightly gripping her butt with one of his hands. We start to walk outside to the car. We're both a little wobbly and giggly as we walk out and climb into the back seat.
Ron looks at us, and immediately knew. "Have you two been drinking?"
"Uh, what? N-no!" Taylor says.
"Don't lie to me. I can tell by the way you're walking. It's not natural."
"I'm just, tired."
"Being tired doesn't make you walk like that. What have you been drinking?"
"I swear we weren't drinking!"
Ron looks over at me. "Lily."
I blush. I would feel guilty lying to Ron. He was kind enough to take me in, I couldn't betray his trust. "I had drank vodka." I confess. "Taylor did too. Everyone did."
I can feel Taylor giving me a disapproving look as I ratted her out.
Ron shakes his head. "You two are still teenage girls! You have no right drinking at this age!"
Taylor lowers her head. "I'm sorry daddy."
I nod. "I'm sorry Ron."
He looks at both of us for a moment. "Who brought the alcohol?"
"I think it was Brittany." Taylor confessed. "I think her brother was able to get her the vodka."
"Brittany? Well I'll have a talk with her parents about this. It is unacceptable! You're still kids, I shouldn't be picking you up from a party drunk!" He sighs and turns back to face forward. "We'll talk more about this when we get home." He starts driving us home.
I feel guilty. I can tell I had disappointed Ron and I was in deep trouble. He had never talked to me in this tone. How much trouble was I going to be in?
