"Mom this is so amazing. I never knew that at night the stars could be so pretty!"
"You're right it is Sofia. Did you know if you ever look hard enough you could might possibly see the beautiful tails of a million colors."
"Mom, what is that even supposed to mean!!?"
"It means if you look really really hard you might see a mermaid tail or maybe even the whole girl!"
"That's funny and all but really Mom, really what-"
"I've always wanted to see a mermaid."
"It's really late and I'm tired. Can we go home now?"
"You're right. I guess we should get going."
In the car on our way home my mom and I rode in silence for a long time. But, I liked it. I. Gave me a chance to think long and hard. for a strait 30 minutes I though about what my mom said about the mermaids. I mean was it really true? Are there actually half girls and half fish out there🙎🏼🐠? Do mermaids actually exist and if so is there a slight chance I could one day see one? I don't know. But I should think about it more tomorrow. So I guess for now let's break some ice.
"Awkward silence!!! "Wow that felt good then something happened I haven't heard in a long time... She laughed. Laughter from my own mother like literal laughing! Her laugh was like music to my ears. It actually made me feel like I was in heaven. It made me feel good and that I was in a safe place when I watched her eyes squeezed shut and her mouth wide open with the music of her loud but soft laugh. After a few minutes of that she flipped on the radio switch and then our favorite song was on so then we burst out singing...
🎶🎶"Starships were meant to fly Hands up, and touch the sky Can't stop, 'cause we're so high Let's do this one more time"🎶🎶 Yes, the car ride was like an hour but I had a lot of fun with my mom in that last 30 minutes of the ride. I wish. I Wish. I WISH she could've stayed and done that more often but I guess I should start at the beginning.
