1st person POV:

I was walking through the woods with 3 of my friends, trying to find these pieces of paper that we overheard a group of students talking about in the dining hall of the college we went to. I, personally had absolutely no idea what we were looking for or why were were trying to find these papers. My friends told me that there were eight to find or something bad would happen. I didn't really believe them, but I was bored and figured that I'd go along with them for the fun of it.

It was getting a little dark outside, as the sun had just begun to set. The woods were decently dense and the thick leaves and branches of the tall trees didn't help with the ominous gloom set over us. After wandering about for 30 minutes or so, we had found the first one. It was posted to one of the wide trees with an old almost rusting nail. It looked like a piece of someone's notebook page with creepy doodles of trees and a tall figure roughly sketched that didn't have a face or any features besides being the height of the trees surrounding it. It was almost a black sky at this point, but my friends and I didn't scare easily, so we kept going deeper into the woods. We found another shortly after and it read: "DON'T LOOK... OR IT TAKES YOU." with another sketch of the tall figure.

Eventually, my friends started to get a little creeped out and decided to head back to the dorms for the night. We found a total of 5 papers and took them as silly souvenirs for our adventure, still thinking of this as some sort of staged scavenger hunt. A few strange noises could be heard from behind us as we were making our way back towards campus, but we just played it off as animals or something. I occasionally glanced back just to double check that nothing was coming up from behind in the void-like depth of the woods. I though I saw a tall figure a few times, like the one in the scribbles on the papers, but decided that I was just paranoid and that it was probably just the shadows of the trees.

After my friends and I parted ways for the night, we agreed that I would hold on to the pages. I went back to my single dorm, as well as them and I finished up some class work before turning in.

It was almost pitch black in my room, which was usual, except something seemed off tonight. I shrugged it off as the paranoia carrying over from the feeling of being watched in the woods. I rolled over onto my stomach and covered my head with a pillow, trying to go to sleep. I felt a small brush of air flow past me and chose ignorance. I really didn't want to know if something was in here with me. I couldn't shake the feeling of something hovering over me. I was able to fall asleep soon, as fear took a toll of exhaustion on me.

When I woke up the next morning, I noticed that my window was unlocked and slightly cracked open. I never unlocked my window, let alone, slept with it open. I was on the third floor of the dorms, but we had fire escapes that went to each room. I didn't want anyone getting in when I was gone; especially not when I was there.

I closed and locked my window and moved on, figuring I might've gotten hot in the middle of the night and opened it. I grabbed my shower basket and went to take a hot shower, trying to clear my head and forget about the previous night. I finished with everything and did my hair and skincare, but still couldn't shake the feeling that something was lingering in my presence.

I went back to my dorm and started working on some more work I had to do. A few hours passed by and I heard a knock on my door. I got up to see who it was, expecting my friends to be there, asking me to go back to the woods and keep looking for more pages. I opened my door and the hallway was empty. I rolled my eyes and went back into my room, grabbing a few things and putting my shoes on before leaving and locking my door, thinking to go see my friends that i assumed had just tried to prank me. I got to their dorm and knocked, waiting for a response. After a minute or so, I knocked again and put my ear up to hear if they were in there. I didn't hear anything so I messaged them. None of them responded yet, so I thought maybe they went back to the woods and some random person hit my door in passing.
