Where do I even begin... I can't explain myself, all I'm going to say is life is falling apart, and I'm just here chilling, watching as it does. Anyways, here's my chapter. Enjoy! 😋😎
Alex kept running. He didn't stop, no matter what. He kept going until he was sure he was far enough. Enough that even if he did wait around he would be far enough for no one to catch up.
Finally, entering a clearing in the forest, Alex plopped down on the floor, leaning against a rock. He leaned his head back, gasping. He grabbed his side, he wanted to believe his body was only aching because of the way his body was out of shape, for crying out loud it almost resembled that of a corpse.
But when Hugo had released him from his possession, not only did he feel like he was being ripped away physically, a gateway had opened, and every curse that Alex had in his bones broke.
Hugo not only broke himself out of Alex's control, but he had broken all of the curses and controls that had been placed on Alex.
A floodway of memories that Alex had no idea existed came rushing back, but just as quickly as they had appeared they disappeared. But that didn't mean he didn't witness them. He saw them, and now some of what he saw lingered behind. Haunting him, deluding him, confusing him.
"Alex! Get out of there now! It's not safe," he heard a familiar voice say.
Instantly he turned around, arms ready to attack.
But no one was there.
"Show yourself!" He panicked.
It sounded almost identical too... no. He already killed her.
He heard familiar laughter, his laugh, except it was hearty like when he was a child and not a gasp like it is now.
Alex grabbed at his ears, shaking his head. Go away, he begged.
He didn't want to think about what he saw earlier, but they were everywhere. But despite these new memories, above all, one stood dominant.
"It's all Adaria's fault, remember that... it's all Adaria's fault, it's all Adaria's fault, it's all Adaria's fault."
Alex recognised that voice. That was the voice of his boss, he was sure it was hers. She's the one who's been telling him what to do this whole time.
However what made this weird was the fact that he had never told her anything about his hometown and childhood nor motives. So what was this strange story that has now become known to him.
He didn't need this kind of confusion right now. He has better things to be worried about, he had battles to prepare for, he had— Alex fell back onto the ground. His head, spinning.
He sometimes wonders if his body had never been burned would he have tears running out of his eyes, instead of glowing green orbs that dim instead. The fact that this corpse his soul inhabited was a miracle in itself, the amount of magic that goes into keeping him alive seems more like a curse than a blessing.
At this point, Alex didn't care if he got discovered right now. He wouldn't even care if all he had been working for fell apart right. Not even if he died right then and there. But that would be a way too easy escape, and fate is more just than that. He didn't even care if he left his boss waiting. Right now he wanted nothing more than to be left alone.
He shoved these new discoveries in the back of his head. He was going to ignore these until he couldn't no more, until they suffocated him.
